In the sneak peek offered by Newsarama (right here, where I assume they'll post the entire list come Monday evening), we get:

- COUNTDOWN PRESENTS: LORD HAVOK AND THE EXTREMISTS #1 (of 6)
- METAMORPHO YEAR ONE #1-2
- TALES OF THE SINESTRO CORPS PRESENTS: THE ANTI-MONITOR #1
- TALES OF THE SINESTRO CORPS PRESENTS: CYBORG SUPERMAN #1
- a COUNTDOWN-crippled 8-issue Batman miniseries by the superstar team of Frank Tieri & Jim Calafiore
- a JLA cover by Ian Churchill, and Kevin Nowlan covering METAMORPHO?!?!?!?
- this awe-inspiring solicitation: "He nearly destroyed the universe. He has a bloody track record with the Flash family. And he frightens even Superman. He is the Anti-Monitor, the most powerful evil in the DC Universe, and this special one-shot reveals what his future holds! Plus, witness another horrifying Tale of the Sinestro Corps: “Fear is a Baby's Cry”!"

COUNTDOWN PRESENTS: LORD HAVOK AND THE EXTREMISTS #1 (of 6)

"Quick! We found some more JLI characters we didn't rape, mind-wide or kill yet!"

This is almost enough to make me give up reading DC ttitles.

Daniel_Rf, Monday, 16 July 2007 12:18 (eighteen years ago)

What I was thinking:

- ENOUGH WITH THE ONE-SHOTS (and minis)
- wha happen to promoting your flagship characters in lieu of one-off projects essayed by B/C-list talent?
- why is Gary Frank working w/ Johns?!?! ;_;
- I hope Crazy Quilt is in the Sinestro Corps
- COUNTDOWN PRESENTS: KOOEY KOOEY KOOEY oversized GN / pop-up book please!!!!

David R., Monday, 16 July 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

That's horrible. Not a single comic I want to buy on that list. I'm too old for this shit.

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 16 July 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Easy, Chuck. That's the just the stuff they want the internet to be excited about. The full solicits will be up in like 6 or 7 hrs.

Dr. Superman, Monday, 16 July 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't Nowlan do the Metamorpho origin in 52?

Dr. Superman, Monday, 16 July 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

full solicits up at above link now. GOOD GRIEF.

Dr. Superman, Monday, 16 July 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

Suicide Squad: Return to Dinosaur Island!!!

And when Hal finds himself face-to-face with one of the most bizarre members of the Sinestro Corps he has a simple choice to make — keep fighting and die or lay down and walk away.

lay down AND walk away??? he really is the greatest!
NOOOO, Blue Beetle dragged into Sinestro Corps War!
Hmm, so the Kubert bros are officially off Bats and Action.
Flash 80 Page Giant Countdown Special??? Seriously, 52 issues isn't enough? COME ON.

Dr. Superman, Monday, 16 July 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

That's weird, an old friend of mine is dating the JSA Classified writer. (I haven't met him.)

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 16 July 2007 21:33 (eighteen years ago)

It's kinda amazing how quickly DC pissed away all the good will they won with me following One Year Later.

Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 16 July 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not even excited by being unexcited.

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 16 July 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

GREEN ARROW/BLACK CANARY cover rather spoils the outcome of the wedding, doesn't it?

DEATH OF THE NEW GODS looks potentially decent. Or not.

CRIME BIBLE: I'll be reading it.

Gary Frank on ACTION: not bad! Five bucks for 80 pages of Broome/Infantino FLASH: not bad either! Ditto for SHOWCASE: SSoSV and SSquad!

AUTHORITY and WILDCATS: still not solicited!

Douglas, Monday, 16 July 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

Is it time to feel old when Showcase start reprinting comics you bought at the time?

Or is time to feel sad, when you just buy them all over again, except in black and white?

Nonetheless: Showcase Suicide Squad = exciting.

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 01:38 (eighteen years ago)

I LOVE the covers for Metal Men, one of the few things giving me hope about DC.

Death Of The New Gods I have serious problems with, It seems like DC is killing, maiming or destroying any sense of wonder that existed in their universe. How can they argue that it's better for them to NOT HAVE these wonderful creations flying around? DiDio is like a over-eager kid who only likes the biggest and shiniest toys.
And the fact that Starlin fails to see the awesomeness that is the Black Racer only depresses me more.

Amadeo, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

I'm guessing no one actually read the JSA solicit, because otherwise we'd be aflutter with the news that the KINGDOM COME SUPERMAN is in it!

David R., Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

Also, Gail Simone's 1st WW! (Why the fuck isn't DC giving that the special pre-solicit treatment it afforded stupid-ass M:YO?!?!?!?!)

David R., Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:38 (eighteen years ago)

I think I'm turning into Simon Stagg, what w/ all the DAMN YOU METAMORPHO talk. I shd shape my hair accordingly.

David R., Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

I LOVE the covers for Metal Men, one of the few things giving me hope about DC.

Remember, this is Dan Didio's DC, where the Allred/Dorkin Metal Men got axed because it was happy and fun and no-one died.

energy flash gordon, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

there was an Allred/Dorkin Metal Men????

Dr. Superman, Thursday, 19 July 2007 02:28 (eighteen years ago)

I completely forgot (or probably didn't know) about Allred / Dorkin Metal Men. A sad, sad, loss... Samples!: http://evandorkin.livejournal.com/2007/03/05/

Anyway...still have hopes for Rouleau's Metal Men, and I'm aware this is DiDio's DC, where Red Rocket gets blown up for no good reason :(

Y'see, I misread that as COUNTDOWN PRESENTS: LORD HORROR AND THE EXTREMISTS #1 (of 6)

Which would probably explain why the raping, mind-wiping and killing seemed so logical to me...

Stone Monkey, Thursday, 19 July 2007 07:30 (eighteen years ago)

Rocket Red didn't even make Wizard's Top Deaths List.

Dr. Superman, Thursday, 19 July 2007 08:05 (eighteen years ago)

That's tipical capitalist propaganda masking the many achievements of communist Russia.
