Details Welcome!

1. Accidentally placing the first STARMAN trade among a haul from the quarter bin.

2. Dating a store employee can prove quite beneficial with regard to one's weekly haul.

3. (ahem)flexmentallo(ahem)

R Baez, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:29 (eighteen years ago)

Ah homme, I was about to say NON!!! if you hadn't stipulated the CBR thing.

Leee, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

R BAEZ - willing to induce guilt trips!

R Baez, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

FLEX MENTALLO was the first comic I ever stole. Then I bought it. Does that count?

Matt M., Monday, 20 August 2007 21:47 (eighteen years ago)

The stain on your soul simply grew to a lighter tint - no taint can ever be fully dispersed, my son.

R Baez, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:49 (eighteen years ago)

Is this what Catholic guilt feels like?

Leee, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:51 (eighteen years ago)

UH, YEAH...

R Baez, Monday, 20 August 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

Days like this I'm glad I'm agnostic.

Matt M., Monday, 20 August 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

1. Flex Mentallo and many more (via Hitler and/or Gmail).

2. 2000AD or some Marvel UK title from the local cornershop, either 'cause I forgot to bring enough change, or I wanted a lemonade sparkle too, or something similar. (C'mon, EVERYONE DID IT OCCASIONALLY).

3. Working in a non-comic-bookstore. "Borrowed" Superman/Batman (as staff are allowed to do), but, um, forgot to return it. Should've stolen something better.

4. Freebies from PR people. ("I promise I'll review the new $30 Tezuka book, honest."

Having said that, my mate Simon stole all my Madness LPs (years to collect!) when I was in sixth form, so karmically, I'm probably even.

Shoplifting was a sport in middle school. We started on Spider-Man and graduated to P1ayb0y all in one summer.

Dr. Superman, Monday, 20 August 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

I used to shoplift lots of comics when I was a teenager, I think 1/3 of my comics collection is from those days. But I only stole from the big book stores, not from Ye Local Comic Shoppe, if that makes it any better. The way it was, I was a poor teenager, and the collections and albums cost quite a lot, especially if they were imported from the US.

76% of respondents admitted to felonious comics activity? This should be I Love Stealing Comics instead!!

Leee, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:45 (eighteen years ago)

24% didn't choose to parade about self-righteously! Thanks!

R Baez, Saturday, 1 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

So who's the other shoplifter?

Tuomas, Thursday, 6 September 2007 07:58 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah, I guess it's Huck, should've read more carefully.

Tuomas, Thursday, 6 September 2007 08:06 (eighteen years ago)

best thing about shoplifting comics in the early 90s--resale value = 100% profit!
Number of Slurpees paid for by pink covered LOTDK #1: 7
Number of full days at the waterpark paid for by sealed Spider-Man #1: 3
Number of sleepless nights due to guilty feelings about taking advantage of my Catholic schoolmates: 0

My wife's excited about having access to my computer (and big-ass monitor) while I'm gone so she can read CBRs all day for eight days.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:30 (eighteen years ago)
