Batmorrison Spirit Criminal Iron Fist Iron Fist Annual
Wow, more Marvel than DC! I don't think that's ever happened before.
― Oilyrags, Monday, 24 September 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)
It'll probably just be the Iron Fists for me this week unless some untoward crawls out of the woodwork.
― Stone Monkey, Monday, 24 September 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
A decent week at last! Batman, Criminal, Spirit -- my three fave titles right now -- and maybe JLA and the Iron Fist annual. Good stuff.

BATMAN #669 JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #13
― Leee, Monday, 24 September 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)
My nine-year old nephews are desperate for the new SCOTT PILGRIM. Alas, not this week, Aaron and David...
NONETHELESS: BATMAN #669 - What does gruesome fate hold in store for Taiwanese Batman? IMMORTAL IRON FIST #9 - FITE!!! IMMORTAL IRON FIST ANNUAL #1 - Which I suspect will ooze testosterone. THE ORDER #3 - Which I'm quite liking. PUNISHER MAX ANNUAL #1 - Yet another variation on the only cover Tim Bradstreet can produce.
― R Baez, Monday, 24 September 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)
For me:
BATMAN #669--can we have Morrison/Williams III every month please? CRIMINAL #9--somebody's in trou-bulll... ALAN MOORE ON HIS WORK AND CAREER HC--what is this?!
Jeez. It pours but it never rains.

what is this?
One of those Bill Baker turds-on-paper, but more expensive.
Nothing for me except the Treehouse Of Horror, but only because it's on my standing order - no idea who's in it this year. And hopefully last week's TCJ at the bookshop.
― energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 10:37 (eighteen years ago)
AMERICAN VIRGIN #19 - Will this be the issue where he becomes American Slut? BATMAN #669 - Only 330 issues till issue #999! CROSSING MIDNIGHT #11 - It's not exploitive, because this shit really happens! GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE #5 - Actually exploitive. Of me. CAPTAIN AMERICA CHOSEN #2 - SPOILER: He's on drugs. IRON MAN #22 - SPOILER: He's on drugs. SUB-MARINER #4 - SPOILER: He's on drugs. THE ORDER #3 - Is this the one about the young renegades, or about the supermodel LA heroes? X-MEN #203 - Beast and Dark Beast discover a cure... for boredom! X-MEN FIRST CLASS VOL 2 #4 - Cute Kids!
Actually looking forward to: Erm, Batman. And maybe American Slut.
― Mordechai Shinefield, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 11:48 (eighteen years ago)
X-Men, Batmoz, Supergirl and the Legion, Wonder Woman Annual, Teen Titans, and maybe I'll give that JLA a shot.
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
Oh by the way, O'Malley is saying that Scott 4 will probably be out in late October, or maybe early November. It's pretty much done but it's still being finished, you know?
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
Oh cool - thanks Perpetua!
AND I'LL PROBABLY ALSO BE PICKING UP
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL #2, cuz I'm foolish enough to not wait for the trade.
― R Baez, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)
Holy moley! Buncha crap!
SPEAK O/T DEVIL #2 (OF 6) - I guess I don't have to get this, but I kinda liked the first ish. BATMAN #669 - likewise BLUE BEETLE #19 - after the Titans zzz-over (where the same scenes were presented in each comic, but w/ diff. scripts) I believe more in this title than ever. GREEN ARROW YEAR ONE #5 (OF 6) - As long as this doesn't end with a certain someone being impaled by an arrow, it'll be awesome. JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #13 CVR A - maybe SHOWCASE PRESENTS METAL MEN VOL 1 TP - I promised the gf I wouldn't buy any more of these, but COME ON! SPIRIT #10 - whee! SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL #6 - WTF is going on with EVERY Superman book lately? First they get really good, then they get unschedulated, then they turn to SHIT. KILLING GIRL #2 (OF 5) - oh why not? MADMAN VOL 1 TP - Does this go back to the beginning??????
― Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)
SHOWCASE PRESENTS METAL MEN VOL 1 TP - I promised the gf I wouldn't buy any more of these, but COME ON!
YOU ARE ME.

MADMAN VOL 1 TP - Does this go back to the beginning??????
Yup, it's a rerelease of that horrible first volume.
― Leee, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
Am kind of hoping she won't notice ONE more.
― Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)
So not worth the bother?
― Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 17:37 (eighteen years ago)
That's the first two volumes in one, not just the first.
― energy flash gordon, Thursday, 27 September 2007 04:23 (eighteen years ago)
AS FOR THIS WEEK:
I read the IRON FIST double-shot with an enormous grin on my face that persists to this very moment. Clearly a shoo-in for Perpetua's "favoritest monthly" thread, and yet I chose otherwise because I'm quite foolish. THE ORDER has waylayed any of my initial doubts w/r/t its quality - if I may say so, the collision between the landmark society and zombie robots proved quite charming. BATMAN - yes, quite good. I wish I had more to say - the "dueling page style" technique was neat, though I suspect the phrase "stylistic excess" may be uttered in response. And if so, please enrich your lexicon. SPEAK OF THE DEVIL - I suspect I'll simply buy all upcoming issues but hold off on reading. When finally consumed, I'll declare the end result "a fully satisfactory piece of work" and then kick myself when the trade is declared a "director's cut" (a phrase wholly ridiculous when ascribed to any cartoonist other than Beto).
― R Baez, Thursday, 27 September 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)
"stylistic excess" but isn't that what we love about JHW3?
― Dr. Superman, Thursday, 27 September 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)
Hahaha I have just read ASSBATS 7. SRSLY, ONE OF THE THE WORST WRITTEN COMICS EVER.
― aldo, Thursday, 27 September 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)
b-b-b-but he's the goddamn Batman!!
― Rock Hardy, Friday, 28 September 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)
YOU DON'T KNOW FROM GODDAMN BATMAN
― Dr. Superman, Friday, 28 September 2007 02:59 (eighteen years ago)
He says it about 10 times. Other people say it too. He blows out a definite shag (copyright Rob Newman, years ago) because HE'S THE GODDAMN BATMAN.
― aldo, Friday, 28 September 2007 11:19 (eighteen years ago)
Man, I really hope that Mike Carey continues on with stories like Blinded By The Light in his X-Men run. It took him a bit to really settle in, but that story really made up for the wobbly bits in his first year. It'd be nice if they paired him up with a decent artist who complemented his writing style, though, you know?
― Mr. Perpetua, Friday, 28 September 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, I finally went and got the last two months of comics or whatever. It's mostly Batmorrison, Fables, Chance in Hell gn, etc. Haven't read anything yet.
Looks like I forgot Batass, Criminal, and Speak of the Devil, oh well.
― Jordan, Friday, 28 September 2007 14:40 (eighteen years ago)

― ian, Sunday, 30 September 2007 00:04 (eighteen years ago)
Sucker may not be the right word, but you're def. missing out on a good title.

Comics Should Be Good weighs in on the ASSBATS issue:
Offered without editorial comment Posted by Greg Burgas, Monday, October 1st, 2007 11:59 AM Here are ten chunks of dialogue or internal narration from this week’s All Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder #7:
Once you scare the CRAP out of them … they scramble away like COCKROACHES. Gotham City’s FULL of COCKROACHES. They scramble AWAY. That’s unless you STEP on them. And step HARD. I step HARD.
“Let me take you to school, suckers … in chemistry.”
“You don’t know from hurt, either, you wads.”
He DOESN’T STOP. He doesn’t spare a ONE of them. Not a ONE. Before I can even catch my BREATH, they’re a bunch of bleeding, burning HEAPS, they are. And god help me, here I am thunderstruck in LOVE with the man. The goddamn BATMAN.
Her TONGUE’S a little bit SANDY. She’s a SMOKER. Cigars. Cuban. I haven’t kissed a SMOKER in WEEKS. Not since SELINA.
We keep our MASKS on. It’s BETTER that way.
“Not one word. I’ve taken enough grief about calling my goddamn car the goddamn Batmobile. I’m the goddamn Batman and I can call my goddamn car whatever the hell I want to call it.” “Whatever you say, man of mine. That’s just a totally queer name for a car, is all.”
“I’m doing fine. And you talk too damn much. Shut the hell up.”
She’s got a RIGHT to say whatever she WANTS. She’s got the RIGHT. THOMAS JEFFERSON and all that. And she’s dead RIGHT to say I’m half-CRAZY. But only half. The OTHER half is doing JUST FINE.
“You’ll talk when I tell you to talk, you bastard.”

Oh, for fuck's sake. Someone shoot Miller now.
― James Morrison, Thursday, 4 October 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)
It probably flew under everyone's radar, but there was a Simpsons Treehouse of Terror special out this week written by Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, and Thomas Lennon.
― Deric W. Haircare, Friday, 5 October 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)
Still haven't read it, so I can't rep for the quality.
"SHOWCASE PRESENTS METAL MEN VOL 1 TP - I promised the gf I wouldn't buy any more of these, but COME ON!"
"YOU ARE ME."
You are both me. I need to get the Outsiders and Captain Carrot (!!!!!!!!!!) ones still.
