Is there a Ditko-Geddy Lee connection, like a Rush song called "Mr A" or somesuch? I kind of hope so, even though I'd never listen to it.

Oilyrags, Monday, 26 November 2007 18:21 (seventeen years ago)

Alan Moore re-wrote Sister Ray as Mr A for some musical project or other…

i have mentioned this before, but there's a comic from the last 4 yrs with Flash (wally) telling Green Lantern (John Stewart, I think) that he likes Rush because it's "math-rock"!

Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

I'm sure I've mentioned these somewhere before, but...

Isotope 217, "Prince Namor"
Cul de Sac, "Turok, Son of Stone"

ACTUALLY I HAD NO INTENTION OF EMBEDDING THAT, JUST LINKING.

Let's hope this works.

R Baez, Sunday, 21 November 2010 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

still have the cassette of that

...in a box under my mum's house, theoretically.

Liked the Instant Piano strip with about three panels that referred to working on this than the comic itself

i'm assuming that it's tity boi, host of the mixtape (sic), Sunday, 21 November 2010 23:33 (fourteen years ago)

That Last Emperor tune is fantastic.

Maybe a stretch but the album "Downward is Heavenward" by Hum is full of kooky scifi fantastical lyrics like "put this benzine ring around your finger and sail through the astroid belt" or something that makes me think of Infinity Gauntlet or 90s X-Men

Here's why Huk is lame:

Lame vs. Lazy?

(no one's called me Huk in years! take me back.)

it seemed disrespectful to call a doctor lame

You wouldn't say that if I was Dr. Aquaman.

I recently bought the greatest hits album by Earlene Bentley, who was a disco/ni-NRG diva in the 80s, and one particular song on it was a bit of surprise to me:

Listen to the lyrics, especially starting from 1.22. Wtf?

Tuomas, Saturday, 29 January 2011 15:35 (fourteen years ago)

The Guardians spread the message far and wide, my friend.

I can't wait to understand these arguments! (R Baez), Saturday, 29 January 2011 16:06 (fourteen years ago)

nine years pass...

So, apparently that song was co-written by Ian Levine, who's not only a big Doctor Who fan but also a DC fan... So I guess he snuck in that reference to "Caught in the Act"?

(Reposting the song since the link above seems to be dead, the relevant bit starts at 0:50.)

Tuomas, Tuesday, 19 May 2020 07:08 (four years ago)

who's not only a big Doctor Who fan but also a DC fan

not any more! he sold off his complete collection of every single DC publication ever after (iirc) The New 52, and has been throwing his toys out of the pram over there now being a lady Dr Who for three years. (he still likes old Who though.)

was worth reposting - the song's a lot less terrible than other examples of his musical output I've heard.
