AGE OF BRONZE VOL. 3 TP--I keep waving the flag for this Trojan War series--so beautifully drawn... MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #5--tear the lid off Mike Allred's id DAREDEVIL #102--who will get shoved in front of a train next? DAN DARE #1--with some trepidation, esp. after reading G.Mo's "Dare" recently

― Jordan, Monday, 26 November 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)
AMERICAN VIRGIN #21 - Cancelled? OMGWTF: American Virgin = Greatest Virgin Ever. BATMAN #671 - Where the caped crusader BORES me once again. CROSSING MIDNIGHT #13 - Teenage prostitutes and furry demon monsters! JACK OF FABLES #17 - An irreverent Fables losing its charm. DAREDEVIL #102 - The man with a shit-ton of fear. FOOLKILLER #2 - A Zero Killer spin-off??? SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN #41 - "One day more / Another day, another destiny / This never ending road to Calvary..." X-MEN #205 - In which Layla Miller seems to get a year older every issue.
Looking forward to: American Virgin + X-Men. I'll admit, I'm kinda enjoying the One Day More saga; those retro covers are all kinds of awesome. Foolkiller is obviously the joke pick.

Kind of a rad week:
X-Men (very excited to see where Messiah Complex is going now) Essential X-Men (ever closer to my dream of having the entirety of the Claremont run on my shelf) Daredevil Green Lantern Corps (I'm getting over my embarrassment of being into GL now) Supergirl & the Legion (end of an era! I'm very nervous about Jim Shooter) Teen Titans Batman (I barely care about this, Morrison is no Morrison -- this is me being a completist)
Mordechai, are you serious about Layla? She's supposed to be 13 and most of the artists agree on that, except for Humberto Ramos, who decided to draw her as a toddler in last week's New X-Men.
― Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 26 November 2007 23:44 (eighteen years ago)
Devil-Speaker Man-Batter Devil-Darer
and hopefully New Tales of Old Palomar that was skipped last week and since Tony Millionaire is having a signing, I want to see if I can get a Drinky Crow sketch on my hip flask. I've tested a silver sharpie on the leather case, and it seems to be holding just fine.
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, hey, missed Crime Bible on my first go-round. That, too.
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)
er...
Bible-Crimer!
I am serious about Layla. Look at her in X-Factor 24 (page 5, exactly) and tell me she doesn't look older than thirteen. I posit that they are preparing us for her inevitable relationship with Madrox (I say inevitable, I really should say fated) by closing the age gap now. I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of this Messiah Complex thing, she's more like 17 or 18.
― Mordechai Shinefield, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 00:42 (eighteen years ago)
I don't know, I think it has more to do with most of the artists being total hacks, but David has been flirting with the notion that Layla and Madrox will eventually be an item for at least a year now, so yeah, I don't think you're totally wrong. It's a scientific fact that Humberto Ramos is a fucking terrible artist, though.
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 00:53 (eighteen years ago)
I can definitely imagine that Layla comes back to our present after having lived there for a number of years.
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 00:54 (eighteen years ago)
nowt for me this week, but I strongly hope that there is not an apostrophe missing from this title:
GENE SIMMONS DOMINATRIX
― energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 03:57 (eighteen years ago)
That sounds like some socal punk band in Flipside circa 96.
Batman Batman & The Outsiders
These are the only two for this week. I will probably pick up a trade or two this week including another 100 Bullets. I'm read up through the Sixth trade on that one and I am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #8 - I AM GODDAMN STAYING TILL THE GODDAMN BITTER GODDAMN END AUTHORITY PRIME #2 - did I buy the first one of this? Can't remember. Still, Authority vs Stormwatch FITE BATMAN #671 - screw you guys, I'm going home. </Cartman> GEN13 ARMAGEDDON #1 - the Armageddon Wildstorm books have actually been pretty good, and I'm enjoying GEN13 more than I think is rational. JACK OF FABLES #17 - Hmm. I'm beginning to think this is going nowhere. JLA CLASSIFIED #47 - The trouble with the two Classified books is the rotation teams mean you sometimes get someone good, and the only way to make sure LCS stocks it is to put it on a pull list. DECISIONS, DECISIONS. JSA CLASSIFIED #32 SHOWCASE PRESENTS TP SUPERGIRL VOL 01 - I need to stop buying these, I think. SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER HEROES #36 - I might jump off this when Jim Shooter gets on. DAREDEVIL #102 - getting bored MARVEL ZOMBIES 2 #2 - C'mon, this isn't any worse than the first series. ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #116 - SOMETHING HAPPENS, probably. WORLD WAR HULK FRONT LINE #6 - COMPLETIST ALERT DAN DARE #1 - if the LCS gets it in
― aldo, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)
MARVEL ZOMBIES 2 #2 - C'mon, this isn't any worse than the first series.
Like marveling that Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid is just as good as the first Anaconda.
― Mordechai Shinefield, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 13:36 (eighteen years ago)
You kid, the first series was brilliant and as far as I remember we all agreed on that.
― aldo, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)
AGE OF BRONZE TP for me this week, I think, as I can never find the bloody thing in floppy form.
― Stone Monkey, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)
smallish, but worthy, and emblematic of my slow shift away from four-colour: SPEAK O/T DEVIL #3 (OF 6) - kinky and fun! BATMAN #671 (GHUL) - um, we'll see BLUE BEETLE #21 - from the writer of Transformers the Motion Picture! DEATH OF THE NEW GODS #3 (OF 8) - am now buying these to read once I finish the Ominbi GREEN LANTERN CORPS #18 - my last issue! SUPERMAN ANNUAL #13 - my other last issue! MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #5 - I only officially added this to my pull list with the last issue, and the LCS said that they thought last issue was the last issue, and it was the last issue, but not the last issue
― Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)
Dr. Superman, why are you leaving GLC before the Sinestro Corps story is over?
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)
because I kinda just don't want to know. I stopped reading the GL "solo" book over a year ago, and GLC seems to have less and less Patrick Gleason every issue, and Gibbons is leaving, and K. Rayner is joining the cast, and I am wondering why I care.
― Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)
What is this world where I suddenly enjoy Green Lantern comics and you're pretty much done with the franchise?

Not much for me: it's a good week for browsing new issues at the store, not so much for actually buying them. And although I've really dug G-MO's run on Batman so far, I'm sitting out the x-over.
But still:
CRIME BIBLE #2 -- Really entertained by the last issue. Quite old school -- felt like it should've been drawn by Jim Aparo. DAREDEVIL #102 -- Also getting bored, and might even drop.
Incidentally, whoever was yakking about Death Note being addictive -- you were correct. I love how I'll buy any cack-handed plot development because, "oh, it's just manga."
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 19:53 (eighteen years ago)
FOR THE RECORD:
GOOD MANGA = COCAINE DEATH NOTE = CRACK
I warned you. I certainly hope, for the sake of your bank account, you're libraryin' it.
― R Baez, Tuesday, 27 November 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)
Batman, Blue Beetle, Casanova, Daredevil.
― Garrett Martin, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)
So wtf is up with American Virgin being canceled?
IS HE GONNA GET LAID FIRST??
― Mordechai Shinefield, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)
Casanova Bats AGE OF BRONZE VOL 3 TPB FINALLY. I like the slow pace of this series.. i don't feel guilty buying a new trade because it's been sooooo long since the last one. maybe i SHOULD feel guilty, though, because wasn't Shanower encouraging people to buy the issues so he wouldn't get dropped?
― ian, Wednesday, 28 November 2007 23:26 (eighteen years ago)
argh, I thought Canada was supposed to get comics today, but NO COMICS today. THANKS FOR RUINING MY LIFE AMERICAN THXGVING
― Dr. Superman, Thursday, 29 November 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)
