Okay:
New X-Men, Ultimate X-Men, Mighty Avengers, The Programme, Angel, and the Levitz/Giffen Legion of Super Heroes trade.
― Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)
We should really start a Messiah Complex thread so that we don't have to post here about it...

Umbrella Academy #4 - despite the last issue going all emo on us I'll keep on with it. Iron Fist - because, what is there not to love about it?

Yeah, like Faker, it disappoints more and more.

that's a Levitz/Giffen LoSH trade? I might get that too.
― Dr. Superman, Tuesday, 18 December 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)
it's the shittiest part [the end] of their first run, with Giffen bailing before the five issues are even over

Umbrella Academy, Checkmate, Programme, Iron Fist, Incredible Hulk, The Order.

"Programme"
That is the one written by Peter Milligan, right? The art on that one caught my eye from that shelf and was curious about the book.
Is it worth tracking down the early issues of the mini-series?
― earlnash, Wednesday, 19 December 2007 23:30 (seventeen years ago)
I didn't spot The Programme on that list so I guess that'll be another one I'm getting - seeing as I have the rest.
It's nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is but it's engaging enough. The colouring is fairly weird.

Everything I bought was kinda mediocre except Special Forces. Whenever Superman stories get around to Lana Lang, I tend to stop caring for some reason (maybe her insect pheromones put me to sleep?). The Ra's Al Ghul ending was, um, a lot like every other chapter I read--fite in a cave! Maybe all the good stuff happened in the Nightwing issues?

Happy days, I found a local comic shop a couple of week ago with a bazoodle of fifty cent back issues, including even a few more recent issues. I've gotten all sorts of stuff in the past couple of weekends.
I'm getting interested in checking out some more DC books. I have mostly stuck to the Batman titles for the past year or so, but I am getting curious about some other stuff out there.
I got a good deal on the entire Justice mini-series. I read the first issue of that one last night, that artwork is very cool. I'm going to have to check out that Kingdom Come sometime soon. I've gotten curious and ordered up the Sinestro War Green Lantern issues and some recent Superman and Action Comics. I've also got the first four issues of the Green Arrow Year One as it caught my eye.
Other than the Byrne re-start issues, what else other Superman runs or mini-series does anyone like? I saw that George Perez did a run on Action, which seems like something that might be good to check out. I started on the run of Action and Superman with the One Year Later storyline. I got a bunch of them last week for .50 cents a pop and ordered the rest to fill in the gaps that take me up to the last three issues or so. I've read some positive things about the recent runs, so I figured that was a good place to start. I also got a few issues of Byrne's run, as I remember liking those quite a bit.
My Superman kick started from reading those Alan Moore stories in the DC Universe compilation of his work. Those are the issues that got me fired up and reading Superman in the first place.
