MARVEL "POP ART" AND WHATNOT:

IMMORTAL IRON FIST

AND MAYBE THE COUNTDOWN NEW GODS THINGY, IF I HAVEN'T ALREADY READ IT.

OTHERWISE, THAT DOOM PATROL TRADE WOULD BE SWELL, BUT I ALREADY OWN THE FLOPPIES.

R Baez, Monday, 14 January 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)

For me:

DOOM PATROL TP VOL 06 PLANET LOVE--adored this stuff the first time around, looking forward to re-reading
INCREDIBLE HERCULES #113--talk about pop art!
LUST: KINKY PERSONAL ADS FROM SEATTLE'S THE STRANGER HC--got this a couple of days ago, actually--it's Ellen Forney's new book, and it's beautiful

Light week!

Douglas, Monday, 14 January 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

Nothing for me, thx.

Is the Doom Patrol trade still Grant Morrison stuff? If so I'll get around to it eventually.

Jordan, Monday, 14 January 2008 20:30 (seventeen years ago)

Grendel, Checkmate, Iron Fist

Oilyrags, Monday, 14 January 2008 23:38 (seventeen years ago)

Okay:

New X-Men -- super psyched for this. HOW MANY NU X-MEN WILL PREDATOR X EAT????

The Flash -- I might just give up on this.

Angel -- I really wish this had better art, but I like it.

The Programme -- I'm planning to read this in one go, I guess.

Doom Patrol: Planet Love -- this trade is basically one of my four of five favorite comics of all time, and it's going to be a thrill to finally have it collected in a book for my bookshelf. I don't think I'm overstating things when I say that the contents of Planet Love (and the previous volume) changed (the course of) my life when I read them when they were first published. (I was 12, 13.)

Yeah--great great great stuff. Especially since DC had implied that Morrison's final issue was #65, with the "Danny the World" business, which seemed like the perfect ending... and then the next month #66 came out and the ending just _destroyed_ me... pity the trade can't pull off that kind of switcheroo.

Douglas, Monday, 14 January 2008 23:58 (seventeen years ago)

Re Doom Patrol, Mr Perpetua and Douglas absolutely OTM

James Morrison, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:26 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, #63 (the final one, 65 and 66 are in the Rachel whatsername run) is one of the most gutting comics of all time.

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 00:30 (seventeen years ago)

I pre-ordered the Forney before my 20/20 ran out, expect to see it in three months I guess

looking forward to it though!

energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 04:42 (seventeen years ago)

Oh yeah, I guess I'm getting Amazing Spider-Man too, at least for the time being.

Mr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 12:42 (seventeen years ago)

nothing from nothing

RE: IMMORTAL IRON FIST

AMAZING MAN?!?!?!

R Baez, Thursday, 17 January 2008 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

I think I'm slowly falling out of love again. I no longer rush to the store every Wednesday after work. I just sort of pick stuff up whenever I'm in the neighborhood. These things should be in my folder:

Umbrella Academy
Booster Gold
Checkmate
Flash
Programme
Iron Fist
Hercules

PROGRAMME #7

I got three of the first five out of a .50 cent bin and two others via mail order. I'm going to read the first five this weekend, but I will most likely get this one and #6 on my next trip to the store.

There isn't much in that new list that I will pickup. I will probably pickup a copy of the new Hulk series #1. I'm still mostly reading back issue stuff and I have been finding all sorts of good stuff that is new to me. I just read Desolation Jones 1-6, Tom Strong 1-9, Catwoman 44-50, re-read Chakin's Shadow mini-series from the 80s and the Judge Death trade paperback in the past few days. All of it is really good stuff, no complaints at all other than I wish there was more of some titles.

Desolation Jones was a good read, but it looks like that thing is D.0.A. I think I saw 7 and 8 in the 50 cent bin, so I might pick those up even though it is most likely a dead letter story that won't be finished.

I read the first five issues of The Programme today and it is quite good.
