But where the hey are the archives?

Oh, they're somewhere BESIDES the ass in which I've stuck my head? Gracious! Nevermind.

(Translation: Laughing Boy actually went to the "main" ILC page. Carry on & welcome back, folx.)

I'm going to the library tonight to get some sweet sweet comics. And then I'll post some more.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:10 (twenty years ago)

Hooray! I've got much to post about later.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:11 (twenty years ago)

First things first: ILC is why I checked to see if ILX was back yet. I hope everyone had a good two weeks and that we recoalesce.

Second things second: Matt Maxwell sent me a copy of Seaguy #1 since they were sold out here, so I'm caught up now (unless #3 came out this week), and wahoo. This is a kind of Grant Morrison I don't feel like I've seen in awhile -- more than anything else, it reminds me of his Doom Patrol (not across the board, but in some ways), enough so that I suddenly realized how much I miss his Doom Patrol, you know?

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:26 (twenty years ago)

I came to a similar realization, except that I've only read two issues of his Doom Patrol and I want to read more.

Speaking of Morrison, did anyone read this?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 16 July 2004 12:49 (twenty years ago)

I don't recollect if his DP has been collected or not ... man, it really should be. I'll be surprised if it hasn't been, given his recent mainstream popularity.

Oh woo, Morrison and Ordway! That's very cool.

Tep (ktepi), Friday, 16 July 2004 13:21 (twenty years ago)

Woo hoo.
Debating whether or not the Joker is gay on the DC message board for two weeks has got me primed for the far superior ILC conversation.
(P.S. Joker is totally gay)

Huck, Friday, 16 July 2004 13:48 (twenty years ago)

(and you're gay for asking!)

Huck, Friday, 16 July 2004 13:49 (twenty years ago)

I will totally bone you with my "boxing glove arrow" if you keep on talkin' shit, Huckster.

"Oh my, it really is a baby's arm with an apple in its fist. Gross."

Huck, Friday, 16 July 2004 14:52 (twenty years ago)

The GM 'Mysteries In space' got picked up yesterday, I haven't had time to read anything other than the new Eightball yet.

DC have just started a trade reprint of the GM Doom Patrol - anything beyond the first "will depend on sales". Lucky I've got all the issues. They're going to try and bluff out the Flex Mentallo stuff apparently, and hope nobody notices.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 16 July 2004 15:44 (twenty years ago)

During the gap, I've started reading the Starman tpbs. Pretty cool stuff, though I skimmed through the 5th, and the library didn't have the 3rd and 4th and 6th. I'm about 1/4 through the 7th, where they go into space.
Also, I read Superman In the Seventies (with the famous black Lois Lane story!!!), Emerald Dawn II (which came out right after I quit reading comics, and totally reminded me why I stopped), some more Astro City, some Nightwing stuff (incl. Batman: Prodigal, which was a bit of a let down after I'd been so excited to learn of its existence), the first of the Dark Horse Marvel Star Wars reprints, some Morrison JLA...what else?

Huck, Friday, 16 July 2004 16:08 (twenty years ago)

Actually, I've heard that they're not going to leave out the Flex material, but rather just not have him on the covers or somesuch. My understanding is that they're trying to reprint the whole run completely, though we won't be able to tell until the proposed third trade.

Mr. Morrison's Adam Strange story was interesting but not relevatory.

Seaguy is ace and I hope that Vertigo puts out all 12 anticipated issues (4 3-issue arcs, apparently.)

There's also a pretty good interview with His Grantness here: http://www.popimage.com/content/grant2004.html

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Sunday, 18 July 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago)

I got a copy of Kochalka's "Peanutbutter and Jeremy", which was cute. He's reading in town today with Craig Thompson, which would be cool to see, except instead I'm heading out on tour, so oh well!

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 18 July 2004 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Matt,

That's what I meant by bluffing out. Bob Shreck said at Bristol they're going to leave all the stuff in but not detail it anywhere on the cover (or show him on it) and hope nobody (i.e. Charles Atlas' estate) notices.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Sunday, 18 July 2004 16:27 (twenty years ago)

Ah, I misread you, aldo. I thought you were implying that they weren't going to reprint any of the Flex material and just pretend that the story makes sense without it...

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Sunday, 18 July 2004 16:40 (twenty years ago)

I didn't realise there was more Seaguy proposed. That's good news, but I expect to enjoy almost anything Grant writes.
