It's up: here!
For me: SPEAK OF THE DEVIL #4--oh, Beto, where are you going with this? I want to find out! CRIME BIBLE: THE FIVE LESSONS OF BLOOD #4--I kind of think of this as 52 #95 WORLD WAR HULK AFTERSMASH DAMAGE CONTROL #1--Dwayne McDuffie returns to a little concept I always liked COMPLETE TERRY AND THE PIRATES HC VOL. 2--Caniff really kicked in toward the end of vol. 1, and I haven't read this stuff in 20 years

I'm a little excited about the Whedon X-Men wrapup.

X-Men -- Messiah Complex conclusion! Exciting! Astonishing X-Men -- Joss Whedon non-conclusion! Not all that exciting! Amazing Spider-Man -- enjoyable enough to stick with, or at least while Slott is writing! Legion of Super Heroes -- will Shooter continue to remain pleasant? Teen Titans -- I enjoy McKeever + teenagers!

Rock Hardy, you know that's not the end of the Whedon story, right? It's just the penultimate chapter. It officially wraps up in Giant Size Astonishing X-Men #1, which is supposed to be out next month.
― Mr. Perpetua, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)
ah, I didn't know that. Doy.
― Rock Hardy, Monday, 21 January 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)
Army @ Love - now six months since I've read an issue!
Will flip through Jack Staff special in the shop and see if it's actually stand-alone or just to wait for the (appallingly-printed) trade.
Man, Linda Medley's been pelting out the Castle Waitings since this relaunch!

Probably. But I am the forgotten man of ILC.

Jack Staff Special - probably, although if it reprints any of the stuff I've already got (ie All three trades and the lastfive floppies) then I really won't bother with it...
And I'll be hugely surprised if Ultimates 3 #2 actually shows up on time. And given how apocalyptically bad #1 was I'm not sure I want to see it anyway.
― Stone Monkey, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 12:04 (seventeen years ago)
No, the Jack Staff special is all-new, apparently, as Paul is about to get back in the saddle and actually do a regular book again.
― aldo, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 14:09 (seventeen years ago)
And given how apocalyptically bad #1 was I'm not sure I want to see it anyway.
One of the worst Big-Two comics I've ever read, for sure. Is it just me, or is there no more lead in the Ultiverse's pencil? That whole franchise needs a hard defibrillation. Also, was Ultimate Hulk & Wolverine #1 a big joke or something, and have they thrown in the towel on #2?
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 16:22 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sure there was a #2, there definitely wasn't a #3 though.
There is a plan to knacker the Ultiverse, isn't there? Can't remember what it's called though. (UFF is still pretty good, certainly the best of them. USM very patchy, but >>>>>>>>>>> UXM.)
― aldo, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 16:32 (seventeen years ago)
oh yeah, I do have the first two. I just remembered they never finished it.
― Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
I DIG EVERYTHING:
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL #4: SEX. ASTONISHING X-MEN #24: VIOLENCE. PUNISHER MAX #54: VIOLENCE INVOLVING UNCONVENTIONAL USES OF CAR BATTERIES. ORDER #7: NAMOR.
All the elements of a good week in my opinion.
― R Baez, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 19:22 (seventeen years ago)
Blue Beetle, Astonishing X-Men, The Order (RIP), and whatever came in last week.
― Garrett Martin, Tuesday, 22 January 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)
Hey, that Damage Control was actually a whole lot of fun!
― Douglas, Friday, 25 January 2008 19:13 (seventeen years ago)
I found Astonishing this week incomprehensible. Points to whomever can explain it to me.
― Mordy, Saturday, 26 January 2008 04:38 (seventeen years ago)
Anyway, tho it's late this week, here's my list:
FAKER #6 TESTAMENT #22 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #548 ASTONISHING X-MEN #24 ORDER #7 X-MEN #207 X-MEN FIRST CLASS VOL 2 #8 IRON & THE MAIDEN BRUTES BIMS & THE CITY #1 JOHNNY HIRO #3
Also picked up Messiah Complex, Spider-man, American Virgin and the Sword from last week (that I missed while out of country).
Also read Scott Pilgrim 4 in Barnes N Noble. (GREAT)
So, with Messiah Complex ending, Faker ending, Testament ending, Astonishing soon to end, American Virgin soon to end, The Order soon to end... I'm going to have a pretty clean plate very soon.

I went crazy on the .50 cent box this weekend and only got a few new comics including the first few issues of Simon Dark. I got all but the first issue of John Ostrander's run of the Spectre out of the cheap boxes, which should provide a bunch of good reading.

On time and just as bad. Holy shit, how does this 5th-grade fanfic get published?

I gave it the once over in Forbidden Planet and decided that I really didn't need to be subjecting myself to that.
