The new DC weekly has been announced after months of speculation, and as Rich Johnston called it, it's a Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman series by Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley, with a 12-page lead story and 10-page backup each issue. Was the last major Busiek/Bagley project the initial run of Thunderbolts? That's a good sign...
And yes, I know I was super-psyched about Countdown before I actually saw it. I'm being cautious this time!

Twelve pages a week is a bit weedy.

Kurt Busiek is a writer that should be good at doing a big superhero story like this one. I've liked Astro City and his run on Superman, so I will probably check this one out. I'd also like to read his run on the Avengers with George Perez.

Mark Bagley is the worst comics artist in the world - all his character have unnaturally large noses and he has yet to master perspective and basic figure drawing what is it, 20 years into his career? The only reason he seems to get work is that he can crank this shit out on a reliable monthly schedule.

I dunno, they're more trustworthy hands than whoever's on Countdown. Bagley is sort of the sub-Wieringo, but he's pretty good at the pacing/storytelling malarkey.

Jeez, Bagley is sooooooooo sub-Weiringo that it's a fucking insult to Weiringo to compare them! I'm dead serious, too! Bagley is a workmanlike bore, just no spark at all.

Honestly, the whole Wonder Woman thing...she's just...dull. The whole Trinity of the DCU concept, ugh. If it was anyone but Busiek, I'd be sure it was going to be a longform meditation on the high school pecking order of the superheroes from Identity Crisis.

This is what Sean McKeever should be working on.

Oh, very well, then. I'm anticipating.
