I just interviwed Chris Butcher about comic pr0rn for my local paper, and it occurs to me we've never really discussed comic smut on this board. Does anyone read it? Do we approve? Who are the groundbreakers, trailblazers, etc?

(Oh, and link above somewhat nfsw, at least if your workplace disapproves of small cartoon penises.)

Sylvie Rancourt's Melody was good when Jacques Boivin drew it, but even then it got tiresome after a few issues. Rancourt blithely assumed that the book would last long enough for her to tell the full story of how she became a nude dancer, but sales (and Kitchen Sink's problems) kept that from happening.
Reed Waller's Omaha was really good for a while, and the sexxx was pretty hottt, but like Melody, the soap opera aspects got kind of boring pretty quickly.
XXXEnophile is really good. It actually stands up to rereading, which is pretty uncommon for porn, and it's great for studying the varieties of inking styles over Foglio's pencils.
But for serious erotic response, I guess nothing beats (fnarr) seijin manga. It's too wide a field to even talk about without breaking down the categories, and I haven't read any smut in a couple of years (except for Lost Girls), so I'll leave it for someone else.
