And there you go.

For me: ONGOING MARVEL MOVIE TIE-IN #2 INDIE INDULGENCE, MARVEL STYLEE #9 UNDERRATED TITLE FEATURING FRANK CASTLE #20
PLUS: ALL STAR SUPERMAN BATMAN neither of which shipped to my LCS last week, for reasons unknown.
― R Baez, Monday, 2 June 2008 19:28 (sixteen years ago) link
Thanks for going easy on me this week, Comics:
Young X-Men Cable </X-masochism> Secret Invasion Omega And the extremely perverse side of me is trying to get me to buy Trinity. Since the only appealing factor is the weeklyness, I think I can avoid the temptation.
The Legion trade is intriguing but ultimately irritating because it's just a best of. Pass.
I'm not getting Essential Captain Marvel, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that Marvel's finally getting around to collecting that. That makes Sub-Mariner and Nick Fury the only Silver Age titles that haven't received the Essential treatment at this point.

Omega & Criminal, which pretty much my favorite comics going right now.
btw, last night i watched blast of silence, the criterion reissue w/the sean philips cover art. not bad for some old hard-boiled stuff. the voice-over narration is kinda hilarious, but i could see how it would be influential to comics dudes.

I'd always avoided DIVORCE, ITALIAN STYLE, thanks to Manny Farber's assessment, but Jaime's cover art can't be denied. So yeah: Jaime beats Manny!

Omega, Criminal, Abe Sapien (The Abesapiening), American Splenda, Maybe Infinity Inc, maybe Trinity, if I can find it the Hernandez Bros. thing I forgot last week.
HEAVY
― Oilyrags, Monday, 2 June 2008 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link
For me:
TRINITY #1--this looks pretty promising! CRIMINAL 2 #3--dark, dark, dark INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #2--I liked the first one a lot OMEGA THE UNKNOWN #9--so good, so unlike any other Marvel title SPIDER-MAN FAMILY #9--I really like Paul Tobin's stories for this ULTIMATE ORIGINS #1--curious to see where it's going
I am of two minds about SECRET INVASION, and tempted to give up on it just because I'm so annoyed that it's 4 bucks for 22 pages.
What, no indies for me this week?

I find it really odd and interesting that none of you seem to read Buffy or Angel.
Anyway:
Buffy Infinity Inc Omega The Unknown Secret Invasion and for my own X-masochism, Cable Young X-Men
I'm not sure how much longer I can keep up with those last two and X-Force out of "let's see where they take this" whatever-blah-ness.

Criminal, Trinity, Iron Man, and I'm holding off until the Omega trade...
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 03:04 (sixteen years ago) link
I would be reading Buffy and Angel (along with a whole bunch of other stuff I don't have the money/patience to try and catch up on) if I hadn't been on sabbatical when they started. As is, I can wait patiently for the trades.
(Or catch up on them via slightly less scrupulous means...)

Part Three of 17:
I'm interviewing a ILC-favoured writer/artist tommorow. If anyone wants me to ask him any questions, via the internet puppet that is me, feel free to mention them below or drop me an email. His name, er, rhymes with Marwin Mook.
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 20:08 (sixteen years ago) link
Does he write a comic book that is soon going to be Frank Miller directed MAJOR MOTION PICTURE?
I'm actually in the middle of interviewing a writer whose name rhymes with Meg Back.

Dear Marwyn: your comics career seems to have the momentum of a runaway freight train. Why are you so popular?
― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 3 June 2008 23:47 (sixteen years ago) link
Dear Marwyn:
J'onn J'onnzz: Brother from another Planet or Commie Stooge??? JLA Bay of Pigs: WHEN??? WHERE IS YOUR OWN EPIC???

Angel. Hippie Name: Angel.

This shouldn't be a problem as long as Bendis keeps using the Avengers crossovers as extended riffs on scenes from SI proper.
― Deric W. Haircare, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 18:24 (sixteen years ago) link
(I totally broke down and bought Trinity anyway. And Ultimate Origin. I'm totally relapsing into junkie-dom.)

Hey! What are the odds that Newsarambla would get hit with the exact same ugly stick as CBR did a few months ago?
― Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 19:23 (sixteen years ago) link
I don't think CBR's is so bad. Nerdsarama is pretty wretched, though, and I speak as someone who's helped launch his fair share of wretched-looking websites.
― Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link
How telling is the post-Wednesday radio silence?
Trinity was as mediocre as I figured.
Secret Invasion...it wasn't bad, but so little happened. Like, what, one kind of major thing happened. And a sort of major thing that anyone reading the crossovers already knew was going to happen. And then one potentially really major thing was hinted at but ultimately left unresolved. Really, Bendis? Really?
― Deric W. Haircare, Thursday, 5 June 2008 13:20 (sixteen years ago) link
Trinity's lead story was too short, and the back-up was awful. Pretty damn unfulfilling.
― Garrett Martin, Thursday, 5 June 2008 14:33 (sixteen years ago) link
Ditto.
― Chuck_Tatum, Thursday, 5 June 2008 15:07 (sixteen years ago) link
Newsarama is unreadable and what's more they're so busy pushing their eighth-hand TV content that you have to click through to get to the bloody comics.
Secret Invasion would have been better if the big NY fight scene hadn't been so gaudy and awkwardly told. I liked the panel of the **SPOILXOR** getting their head blown off tho. Good bloodshot eye action in the Skrull Queen scene too.

Yeah. Yu is another one. Occasionally pretty pictures, but no ability as a storyteller. I honestly couldn't even tell what was supposed to be happening on that next-to-last page.
Not as bad as the "Sentry flies into the sun and...something happens" sequence in Mighty Avengers a few weeks ago. That shit was dire.
― Deric W. Haircare, Thursday, 5 June 2008 17:16 (sixteen years ago) link
Huh. I was kinda digging both parts of Trinity.

Please to tell me what you dug about the parts of Trinity.
