Okay, so a lot of these were announced beforehand, and I'm sure some of them already started (I don't really pay attention to most Dynamite stuff). I just picked the stuff that caught my attention while reading through the coverage.

So many good ones. Pak's Magneto, JG's ASB, Terry Moore's Runaways, Hickman's The Core, "The Stand" adaptation...

I think all the DC/Vertigo stuff had been announced in advance, except maybe Palmiotti's Terra. Of those, I am predictably psyched for Superman Beyond. But I'll read Jeff Parker anything.

Peter Tomasi's Final Crisis: Requiem for Martian Manhunter (DC)

I like to imagine that this will prove an unofficial sequel to Tomasi's previous BLACK ADAM: THE DARK AGE. Ah, whimsy...

none of the above!

btw, did Whedon's Runaways run wrap up or is there still more to go?

Jordan, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 16:53 (sixteen years ago) link

There's one more left.

R Baez, Wednesday, 4 June 2008 16:57 (sixteen years ago) link

SEAGUY 2. That's on the list, right?

Matt M., Wednesday, 4 June 2008 17:49 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not looking forward to any of those. Maybe I should just give up on comics.

I am looking forward to SEAGUY 2, yarsss.

I don't give two tugs of a dog's cock about anything on that list, depending on who JG is. I am looking forward with delirious anticipation to the HUMBUG box, the broadsheet-sized KRAMER'S ERGOT and tomorrow's ACHEWOOD though! And FOUR MORE GLORIOUS YEARS of Thimble Theatre collections!

I'VE GOT KRAMER'S ERGOT (one of them???)!!! It's awesome!

I've got the one where the guy did his complete sexual history. It was kinda creepy and wonderful.

Dr. Superman, Thursday, 5 June 2008 05:31 (sixteen years ago) link

That's #5 - #4 was the first awesome one and is about to be reprinted in hardcover. (The David Heatley strip is also in one of the issues of his Deadpan series from Fanta.)

#7 is coming out in a few months, will be a 16" by 21" hardcover, and have three enormous pages apiece from Dan Clowes, Adrian Tomine, Xaime Hernandez, Al Columbia, Kim Deitch, Ware, Carol Tyler, Swarte, Blanquet, Paper Rad and more.

So, I guess I'm looking forward to that! And to #6!

And FOUR MORE GLORIOUS YEARS of Thimble Theatre collections!

Is it wrong to agree this is one of the comics things I am waiting for most also? (Plus Pogo reprints should finally start this year)

It could not be more right.

speaking of the HUMBUG box, someone got paid to write this sentence:

"After the premature demise of Trump Kurtzman went on to edit the short-lived black-and-white Humbug magazine, which died with issue #11 largely because of poor distribution and then, from 1960-1965, the chronically under-funded, but enormously influential Help! for Warren, but he never again had the chance to one-up his stint on Mad Magazine that Trump would have provided had circumstances been different."

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Only the Superman 3D is even nibbling at my interest. Actually the Johns/Perez Legion is v. tempting, but the Superman Prime factor is not.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

What's the hype about Superman 3D? They don't come with those red glossy glasses things, do they?
