Since I'm flying tonight, and don't know next time I'll have internets (or whether I can even get comix in Italy??), I'm jumping the gun with the Midtown list: http://www.midtowncomics.com/Neshop/WeeklyReleaseBuy.asp?defaultsortBy=1&img=0

Incredible Hercules
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four
X-Factor

I'm kind of wondering what I'll be buying once Secret Invasion and Final Crisis are over and I realize that the X-titles have become super-lame again.

PUNISHER MAX #58 - "We few, we happy few..."

AND THAT'S IT, AS FAR AS I CAN SEE.

Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #563

I'm not sure why or how, but there's a scan of this already floating out there in the ether.

To be fair, Armageddon 2001 started really well. And a few of the annuals were good (Batman, Flash, JLA). But yeah, it did go to shit at the end.

Fuck, I put that in the wrong thread. Sorry.

Going from the http://savagecritic.com/ list:

BRAVE AND THE BOLD #14--I may well bail after Waid leaves
INCREDIBLE HERCULES #118--"Sacred Invasion," nice
RASL #2--oh, are they still publishing this?
TRINITY #3--still treading the borderline
POCKET FULL OF RAIN SC--actually I have this already and it's pretty darn good
Y THE LAST MAN TP VOL 10--I like it much better in trades

Going from the Diamond list:

Grendel

And maybe Checkmate, Trinity, and the Hellboy mmpb.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh Rasl. Sure, that.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 17 June 2008 19:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Waiting for the oversized versions he originally promised after RASL #1 felt so skimpy.

energy flash gordon, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 01:30 (sixteen years ago) link

B&B, though
TTYO
Spirit
RASL

Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 02:09 (sixteen years ago) link

also, the ILC chatter on the new Hulk movie is conspicuously absent.

Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 02:11 (sixteen years ago) link

There's probably a reason for that.

Deric W. Haircare, Wednesday, 18 June 2008 02:22 (sixteen years ago) link

People hate fun, that's the reason!

David R., Wednesday, 18 June 2008 05:46 (sixteen years ago) link

The trailers have been keen to emphasise that there is nothing in any way suprising about the film, that it's one for the shareholders, like Batman Begins. They have done their job well.

Also bought today:
Jason Aaron's four issues of Wolferine (which I found later in the day at another shop which was sold out of the new Millar issue...sigh)
the first three issues of Dreamwar (only because Giffen's writing and it could be cool, I guess?)

I honestly just set aside all the new stuff I bought today. I'll get around to it eventually. Sigh...

More exciting, though: the free Top Shelf Seasonal Sampler, which informs us that there are forthcoming Marshall Law, Alec, and two-volume Bacchus omnibi. Neat! Plus a little sneak-peak at LOEG v3. And it was free!

And I bought DC 1,000,000. Which I already own in singles and which I've already read but which I'm about, uh, 1,000,000 times more excited about reading than anything else I got this week.

BRAVE AND THE BOLD #14 - I haven't read this one, but Scott Kolins is a fine artist. Don't know much of his stuff, but that one Lobster Johnson/BPRD special he did was really sharp.
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #22 - I haven't read this one, but it looks like it is back to the whole Red Tornado thing from the cover.
TRINITY #3 - Don't know about this one, the issue was pretty much a fight scene. Not sure how the tarot cards are fitting into this whole thing. Being that I read 52 in trades, this might be something that would read better if you sat down and read 9 or 10 in a sitting.

The thing I have been reading and really have liked is some more Sandman Mystery Theatre back issues. I'm up to issue #28 and what a great series. I hope they kept up the quality all the way through the run.

I am such a faux comics fan... nothing in the shipmate's bag this week for the cap'n.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Friday, 20 June 2008 09:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Ah, Vicar. You've just gotta jump in there and buy a bunch of stuff that you only half want! That's the way to do it!

Deric W. Haircare, Friday, 20 June 2008 13:12 (sixteen years ago) link

SMT was fucking awesome. But as I may have mentioned before, Guy Davis is my one true love.

I'm broke for a while, so I'll be catching up on stuff later.
