what do people think of him? while I have stumbled across his stuff occasionally over the years, I was very taken with his recent true life story of THE BLOODY BENDERS (this family of psychopaths who murdered people who stayed in their roadside inn).

CLASSIC. And I discovered way back on one of my SD Con trips that he's a very shy, quiet guy. At least he was then.

I love his pen work.

I like him OK. Saw him on Jeopardy once, too. As I recall, he came in 2nd.

what would people recommend by him?

Somewhere around here I have At Home With Rick Geary, which is good. Ditto for the Junior Carrot Patrol floppy he did with Bob Burden. I think that was meant to be a regular series, but Burden and deadlines have never gotten along, and I don't think a 2nd issue ever came out.

The Victorian-era crime things a la Bloody Benders are very good, if that's your bag. It's very much mine.

I think there were two issues of Junior Carrot Patrol, but no more.

His Mask storybooks are not highpoints in his career.

Dude drew Golem Gumby, so that's pretty classic.

I liked his J. Edgar Hoover book. All I've read by him, though.

GUMBY and his Hoover book are all grate, grate, grate.

But I've known his work for years and used to chuckle at the weekly dose of Geary that I got in the SAN DIEGO READER, so I'm perhaps biased.

And he drew me Cthulhu wearing a Hawaiian shirt once, too...

three years pass...

I've just read his book on H. H. Holmes, the Beast of Chicago. I found it very affecting, but that might be because of the subject matter.
