For me:
JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA ANNUAL #1--the Earth-2 thing REIGN IN HELL #1--not a definite, but I'm curious about this COMIC BOOK COMICS #2--actually bought this in San Diego; fun! JOURNEY TP VOL. 1--reprint of William Messner-Loebs' fantastic '80s series about a Michigan frontiersman in the 19th century LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND HC MANY MORE SPLENDID SUNDAYS--well, after I go sell some plasma

Two weeks ago I thought maybe Trinity had finally hooked me for good. Last week, it was so lame I now think maybe I'm unhooked for good.
The difference is going to be whether I'm having a one or none comic week.

Although...

Now if only I could find a liquor store that stocked elder gods.

I bought 3 (three!) floppies last week, that's probably me tapped out for a month or so.
MAY084115 LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND HC MANY MORE SPLENDID $125.00 AUG073471 LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND VOL 02 LTD ED HC $49.95
Is this Checker being typically repugnant and trying to jack Maresca's hard-earned publicity?

Just Popgun vol. 2 from Image for me. Maybe the Doom Patrol Archives HC in a month or two when I've caught up on them.

<stupidity> Black Panther Ms. Marvel Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four </stupidity> Wolvering Reign in Hell
I was always interested in checking out Journey, so I might do that. I'm glad they're finally getting around to collecting all of these old '80s indie comics. Too bad that they couldn't have put this particular collection out back when Loebs was having his financial difficulties.
Re: the Little Nemo Sundays hardcover... I finally saw the first one in person a little while back and I was, frankly, shocked by its size. It's, like, half as tall as me. Insane. I originally thought I'd pass on it since I have the Taschen book and am quite pleased with it, but knowing that the first Sundays book wasn't a one-off makes me requestion my decision to be frugal.

Oh, no Wolvering this week. I saw it on Marvel's site and foolishly thought that Millar was sticking to a schedule.
― Deric W. Haircare, Tuesday, 29 July 2008 02:52 (sixteen years ago) link
You should probably slot Wolfer into the STUPIDITY bracket in place of Mizz Marv. (& it's on the Diamond shipping list for this week -- Millar comes through!)
NORTHLANDERS #8
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN EXTRA -- because 3x a month isn't enough! FANTASTIC FOUR TRUE STORY #1 (OF 4) -- from the writer of Captain Britain / MI series! MS MARVEL #29 NEWUNIVERSAL 1959 -- from the writer of Phonogram, the Image Britpoppy mini that no one here liked! SKAAR SON OF HULK #2 -- seems like forever since #1 ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #124 WOLVERINE #67
COMIC BOOK COMICS #2 -- bless this book (printed on newsprint!!!)
Also, for the Cam Stewart fans -- the Oni graphic novel he drew, The Apocalipstix, came out last week. I stuck it in my shopping cart solely due to the involvement of CS; am hoping it won't disappoint.

Wow, this is such a slim week. Green Lantern, JSA Annual (I got back on the bus for that series out of generally just being into Geoff Johns), and Teen Titans. Rapidly losing interest in Titans, might just get rid of that soon even though I have a lot of good will for McKeever.

Apocalipstix
Wow, so Stewart's 'thing' is just jacking the titles of other comic books now?

Googling turns up fuck all in the first 5 pages of search results when I search for that, aside from the name of some German punk band & the book in question. Care to share?

Blue Beetle and Comic Book Comics, but it'll probably have to wait until next week or maybe the week after.

Apocalipstix is a cute-looking but basically insubstantial Tank Girl rip. Nice art but that's about it
― Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 29 July 2008 05:42 (sixteen years ago) link
Possibly he's referring to the second volume of the Invisibles, Apocalipstick?

and whether you buy Matt's theory that Stewart wouldn't have heard of Paul Pope's debut graphic novel or not, it's pretty hard to make an argument that Cameron Stewart hasn't heard of The Invisibles!
― energy flash gordon, Tuesday, 29 July 2008 06:36 (sixteen years ago) link
I guess it really matters since Stewart was the ARTIST and not the WRITER. And pitching a mini-fit because someone took the name of a serial story and appropriated it for a book title proper strikes me as a cranky-ass penny-ante BS stance (which is what ILC specializes in -- I should know, as I'm king of that nonsense).

Case in point: see my save-a-Cam post above.
― David R., Tuesday, 29 July 2008 13:05 (sixteen years ago) link
Plus, that Cameron Stewart book is pretty old. Possibly older than the Invisibles collection (?).

(You may have seen already, but this is pretty great. Stuart Immonen does Secret Origins inna "Little Nemo" style.)

No, it's the book title proper of the second collected volume of the Invisibles (name taken from a single issue of the She-Man serial).
I dunno, can't find anything on the Stewart book saying it's even come out yet at all. Invisibles collection was March 2001, single issue maybe 1996? Stewart barely had any work out before his little bits in that last Invisibles arc with the multifarous artists, I'm sure - and that was 2000.
Not pitching any kind of fit, I'm posing a CHALLENGING QUESTION. It does seem like a curious coincidence, is all! Cranky-ass a bit, penny-ante, sure, but still noteworthy.

GREEN LANTERN #33 JOKERS ASYLUM TWO FACE #1 JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA ANNUAL #1
I have tracked down quite a few of the 80s comics that I really liked such as Nexus, GrimJack, Scout, Mr. Monster, American Flagg, Grendel, Dredstar, but Journey is one that have not been able to find a nice long run of the back issues. Journey was a great comic and I am glad to see that one come back into print.
Another odd indie book I liked from the 80s that I have been curious of tracking down to read again is Puma Blues. That book was like a Vertigo comic before Vertigo.

Apocalipstix has been doing the rounds at Toronto comic fests for years, in various giveaway and pamphlet-y forms, but I believe the book's only just come out proper. It's written by Ray Fawkes, who did some Vertigo stuff, not Cameron S.
Either way, it's only meant as a throwaway anyway. But the art is lovely.
