HOW OLD ARE YOU ILC???

Since the motherboard seems all obsessed with sorting everyone out according to age (smells a bit fascist to me), I thought we should do the same here (since we all like SOME Frank Miller, we must have little fascist glimmers in our hearts). I've always pretty much assumed that every single poster on ILC is basically a parallel-earth version of me. PROVE ME WRONG. What is yr approximate age?

I am 44.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 13:34 (sixteen years ago) link

33. I need a retcon.

David R., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 13:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Dave is wiser than his years. I'm not quite at issue #500, myself.

Matt M., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link

Ha -- nice to see that ILC is a microcosm of the Direct Market target audience (aka OLDer FARTZ).

David R., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:05 (sixteen years ago) link

And (so far) 100% XY.

We should reach out to a broader audience and talk about Marvel / DC books more. Or Heavy Metal.

David R., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 14:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Born with ASM # 37, now at issue # 506. No spinoffs, but several quality miniseries!

scampering alpaca, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 15:11 (sixteen years ago) link

The number of longboxes I have, multiplied by 7 and a half.

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 16:03 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm the typical age of a superhero, mid to late twenties presumably.

I stopped reading comics between the age of 17 and 24, so I'm going to take 7 years off my age.

Therefore I am 23.

Thankyou.

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link

wait a minute HOW OLD IS DR SUPERMAN!!?!?!?

David R., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:47 (sixteen years ago) link

I think he's like the Vulture in that ASM Lifedeath arc from way back. That's just one man's theory, tho.

R Baez, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 18:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Dr. Superman is a pan-dimensional gestalt entity to whom the concept of age does not apply.

chap, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah - probably like The Watcher, but with a better wardrobe.

R Baez, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Note to Marvel: hook up Uatu w/ some natty Burberry couture ASAP.

David R., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:17 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I know how old Dr. Superman is, but the secret dies with me.

He's also the only ILC'er aside from Leeee and Douglas that I've met off of the internet. Everyone else is an AI bot/script so far as I know. 'Cept for maybe Martin.

Matt M., Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:41 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm 23.

Someone on the internet should make a page where you can see which titles debuted on the month / year of your birth.

Amadeo, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:44 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm a dream -- a hoax -- an imaginary story.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:44 (sixteen years ago) link

This reminds me of one of the guys in CAPA-Alpha -- a former pro -- who does "this month in comics, xx years ago" zines, with cover art, issue summaries, artist/writer credits -- printed in color, too. He's been doing them so long that I know he's covered at least all of the Silver Age, with some coverage before and after as well.

Rock Hardy, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 19:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't know about comics, but this song was number one when I was born.

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 20:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Dave's age.

forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 22:01 (sixteen years ago) link

I would be 51, but I started over at 1 post-crisis.

(McCartney '77 looks a bit like Tim Pawlenty '08, btw.)

Here's the Marvel side of that equation, for a start. Human Fly debuted the at the same time as I did!

Deric W. Haircare, Thursday, 28 August 2008 02:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Hmm. I debuted with Howard the Duck Volume 1 in Jan '76.

James Morrison, Thursday, 28 August 2008 02:55 (sixteen years ago) link

My highlights: Avengers #2, X-Men #2, Modeling with Millie #27.

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 28 August 2008 04:05 (sixteen years ago) link

Green Lantern was bimonthly in '77 and had no June issue, but the July ish had a bald-faced Green Arrow who'd just assassinated the POTUS!
