Dude, any time you feel like a big nerd, remind yourself that you're posting about comics on a site that's mostly kids arguing about music and making lists of pet peeves. ILC comes out on top.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 12 August 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

And WTF is wrong w/ being a big nerd, anyway, punkass? I'll spork you with my abacus, Mungo!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been checking out some other boards, like the one above, and a certain comedy-related mb--just looking, mind you--and mostly they all serve to remind me what a fun and interesting place ILC is. Thank you everybody. Seriously.

Huck, Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:18 (twenty-one years ago)

SPORK!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Seconded, yeah, without a doubt.

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Everytime I feel like a nerd around here it's because of how different the kind of music I like is very very different than ILM. Yeah, Dvorak. I never feel like a nerd on ILC, because everyone is so helpful and there's no visible oneupmanship.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

And the snarkery here is, y'know, actually funny.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Thursday, 12 August 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

there's no visible oneupmanship

Have you not noticed all my "my old pal Alan Moore" and "Grant Morrison worked for me" and "I gave Mark Millar his start" stuff?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 12 August 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

And WTF is wrong w/ being a big nerd, anyway, punkass? I'll spork you with my abacus, Mungo!

This is going into the FAQ!

Mr. Tony Plow (Leee), Thursday, 12 August 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I turn my head to the indiscretions of people I like.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 12 August 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Martin-Is Alan Moore really Rasputin, as it appears in the photos? Be honest now.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 12 August 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

He does look like him, it's true. His accent is more Northampton than Russia, and he seems a little young.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 12 August 2004 21:04 (twenty-one years ago)

It'd be a lot cooler frankly if you'd given Green Lantern his start.

"He comes up to me with this glowing ring through his cock. I said, you need to work on your image..."

Vic Fluro, Thursday, 12 August 2004 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Hell, we could have a whole Martin Skidmore Anecdotes thread, I'm pretty sure no one would mind.

(To give him a oneupsmanship target, I will throw in that a friend of mine used to work with Jim "The Crow" O'Barr at A Comics Publisher and would make fun of him for copying album covers and fetish magazines to develop his style.)

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 12 August 2004 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I love comic nerds. True, they have no social skills to speak of and talk about things no one understands, but it's been my experience that they're bobcats in the sack. ... Ha. Ha haha. HAHAHAA.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Friday, 13 August 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's not have a Me Anecdotes thread. I always feel a bit bad whenever I say anything about this stuff, because it is mostly just namedropping. Anyway, I was only on the fringes of the business for a little while and don't have so many, so letting them drop as and when they are prompted seems rather better.

I will just mention, because I was with the comic's colourist last night (one of my oldest and very best friends) that the best comic I edited, St Swithin's Day, might well be getting a reprint at last, maybe from Dark Horse. I don't suppose it will have my name on it this time, of course, which is fair enough as my contribution was very small indeed. No one puts the editor's name on a novel, let alone repeating it on subsequent editions from different publishers, and I don't imagine my input was any different from that really.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 15 August 2004 15:37 (twenty-one years ago)

For some reason I thought it was in print already: was it reprinted a couple of years back?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 16 August 2004 08:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to admit, I thought that as well. Didn't Oni reprint in in 98 or something? Paul Grist has been selling it as well, I thought.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 16 August 2004 09:26 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, maybe - but no one has told me about it, and I've not seen it!

This seems to confirm it. This is what it looks like:

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 16 August 2004 12:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm very glad it's had a chance to reach a larger audience!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 16 August 2004 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

St. Swithins day... (blows dust off signed copy).. that brings me back... AFAIK its been reprinted at least once.. I have two copies that came out about 3(?) years apart...

droid, Thursday, 19 August 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I found out that my girlfriend has the Oni reprint (it doesn't have Martin's name on it, as I was disappointed to find out). How long is it? It looks like one oversized issue, I expected it to look more like a trade paperback.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 23 August 2004 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Its a one off soft cover comic.. 40 pages maybe?

droid, Monday, 23 August 2004 09:08 (twenty-one years ago)

That's the one. Who originally published it, Martin?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 23 August 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Trident Comics - it's only 24 pages of story. It was originally four B&W episodes of six pages each in our anthology, also called Trident.
