The thing about comics and pop stars is that the comic doesn't really give the pop act the chance to plug their music in the way that telly does.
I recall someone doing a series of hip-hop comics in the early 1990s, though I never saw them. I am dead certain that a Pharcyde comic was mentioned in The Source, and I'm sure there were others.

Smash Hits did a series of band-biog comic strips in the early 1980s. I remember a particularly good Human League one: poss the first time I saw the hoary joke about Phil Oakey's whole family (including dog) having the trademark lopsided haircut.
Actually the Human League one is the only one I can call to mind just now, so maybe it was a one off?

there is a BBC comic which has a busted strip in it. i have a couple of issues
it's quite a good gimmick they have, the mag is in two halves. the "cred" heat-celeb gushing and fashion for the"grown up" in your tweenie, and then the thinner paper "freebie" comic at the back. there's a Busted strip, a couple of rubbish TOTP strips (Popskool, and *groan* Sam and Mark).

yes, BBC Worldwide are migrating to InDesign. ok, not big news here, but this is big news for me, professionally.
also It's Hot is great. usually comes with free makeup and postcards of gorge lads from McFly, the OC, that sort of thing
