Don't ask! Just buy it!

Huk-L, Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

IF YOU BUY ONLY ONE COMIC THIS YEAR -- THIS IS IT!

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Thursday, 30 September 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I heart Stan Lee, despite everything.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I must say, he's trying our love w/ all this Playboy-related "ooo! boobies!" stuff. Also, his Stan Lee Does DC thing was plotztastic.

But, for the time being, STAND FIRM, MEN OF ACTION!

Not Stan Lee, but a fantastic cover blurb: http://www.comics.org/graphics/covers/945/200/945_2_0126.jpg

I have that issue!

Tep (ktepi), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, those post-Timely, pre-Silver Age EC wannabe Marvel monster books look like loads of fun. See?

Fin Fang Foom!

David Simpson (David Simpson), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I wish I knew what OGG Vorbis was.

as part of the general US v. UK thing, I should post the Giant Sea Scorpions cover here again, but I R lazy.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't ogg vorbis a type of audio encoding? Or something? So that people on livejournal can make posts from their phone?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 7 October 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

OGG Vorbis is indeed an audio encoding. Jordan gets a Yes-Prize!

Huk-L, Friday, 20 May 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

God bless Stan's Soapbox. Joe Q's attempt at the same sort of hucksterism is no contest. FACE FACTS TRUE BELIEVERS!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:29 (twenty years ago)

Oh, that reminds me...there was something in one of my new Captain America comics that I wanted to bring up. A Cup O'Joe thing. I can't remember what it was though. But I know you'll believe me when I say it was horrible.

Huk-L, Friday, 20 May 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

Gah, I hate those Joe Q blurbs. 50% of each of them is spent hyping up the LATEST RUNAWAY SMASH HIT, X-79! or whatever.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:33 (twenty years ago)

Exactly! At least Stan seemed to know how to butter his bread - Joe Q just throws sticks of I Can't Believe It's Not Fabio at the fanboys, saying, "IT'S LOW CHOLESTEROL, FCKERS! EAT IT!"

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Marvel's promotion of the RED-HOT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED CONCLUSION TO THIS YEAR'S SURPRISE SUCCESS NYX to thread! BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT (two years ago)!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

His entire business strategy is based on self-fulfilling prophecy.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 20 May 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

Well, it's not like Marvel readers are known for their discriminating taste.

BY A DC FAN?

HUK IS A GREEN LANTERN MOSAIC LOVA (popshots75`), Friday, 20 May 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

From the "Cup O'Joe" in the new issue of Spider-Man/Human Torch:

And let's not forget TOXIN, the symbiote of symbiotes, the newest havoc-bringer in the Marvel U and Spidey's world!

Okay, Venom was kinda cool. Carnage was less so. Now there's another? Come on, Marvel.
Though Peter Milligan is actually behind this, so I don't know what to think.
But that's sorta my mystification with Marvel and Marvel Fans. They seem to just repeat themselves TO THE EXTREME over and over again. (Hey, how's X-Men selling? Good? How would 12 more X-Men books sell?)

DC, meanwhile, has always been a bastion of good taste and decorum.

Huk-L, Saturday, 21 May 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

Dude, how many Bat-titles are there? Also: LEGION OF SUPER-PETS.

Not that you're wrong.

Toxin is, so far, much cooler than Carnage -- Carnage:Venom:Toxin::Rambo:First Blood:Copland

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 21 May 2005 16:33 (twenty years ago)

Tep, if you haven't clicked on that pic Huk linked do, GET THEE THERE!
