Oddly numbered collections.

(in relation to the actual series being collected)

1 the recent(ish) reprints of Swamp Thing that covered the Alan Moore years, (where volume 1 only started with #21), contrasted with the one pre-Moore volume.

2 The reprints of WildC.A.T.S that only cover the issues Alan Moore wrote.

3 The two collection of Alan Moore's Supreme (a pattern is starting to emerge) which go for quantity of issues contained rather than splitting into three, the last of which would contain the issues just after the restart.

4 The two collections (numbered 1 and 2) of Milligan/Allred X-Force which only appear right at the end, after 120 issues. Though obviously there are sound reasons why no-one collected the early Liefeld-Liefeld issues viz mortal paper could not have contained the evil. Ditto Morrison's New X-Men, but I'm sure there were previous unnumbered collections of that.

This is quite a boring question, but I'm quite bored.

The counter-question is what series have been collected regularly despite changing writers. Actually, that makes me think of a better question...

I wanted to try out some Hellblazer, and it was really annoying. They definitely split it by author, but apparently just collected a random arc or two from Garth Ennis or whoever and called it a book, then the next numbered trade skips a bunch of issues. I guess it's not so bad, but it's a little sad to think that unless they fill in the gaps, those intervening stories are lost unless one goes digging around for back issues.

Milk & Cheese though I don't think "other #1," "Third #1," "4th #1," "First 2nd issue" is what you mean.
