the recent(ish) reprints of Swamp Thing that covered the Alan Moore years, (where volume 1 only started with #21), contrasted with the one pre-Moore volume.
The reprints of WildC.A.T.S that only cover the issues Alan Moore wrote.
The two collection of Alan Moore's Supreme (a pattern is starting to emerge) which go for quantity of issues contained rather than splitting into three, the last of which would contain the issues just after the restart.
The two collections (numbered 1 and 2) of Milligan/Allred X-Force which only appear right at the end, after 120 issues. Though obviously there are sound reasons why no-one collected the early Liefeld-Liefeld issues viz mortal paper could not have contained the evil. Ditto Morrison's New X-Men, but I'm sure there were previous unnumbered collections of that.
This is quite a boring question, but I'm quite bored.
