Y: THE LAST MAN
Writer/director/comics savant David Goyer talked to Sci Fi Wire about his upcoming projects, and mentioned a certain Vertigo property. "I'm one of the producers on it, along with the guys at Benderspink, and Jeff Vintar, who wrote I, Robot, is adapting it. We just got our first draft in. It's very good, and he's embarking on a rewrite." Goyer would likely not direct, but he did mention a script sitting on his computer for the Neil Gaiman short story "Murder Mysteries" which he hopes to direct (and find a studio for) one day. "I think it's the best script I've ever written. I call it my 'Dark City.' It's my more idiosyncratic film, and ... as a director, [I need] a blockbuster before I'll have the clout to be able to pull it off, and I'm hoping 'Blade: Trinity' will be the one." Goyer also brushed past the Platinum Studios project "Unique," where he said, "Michael Cooney, [who] wrote Identity, has just started writing a script for it, so that's a long ways off. It's about parallel worlds," and Goyer is attached to direct that one.

If handled well, it could make a great film. The first issue would make an excellent pre-credit sequence.

The trick with the movie is that they'll actually have to give it an ENDING!

Also, Goyer says:-----David Goyer here. Just thought I would pop in and give a quick update on the status of the potential Y: The Last Man movie.
I am producing the film with the boys at Bender/Spink (they are currently shooting A History of Violence).
We just got in our first draft of the screenplay. It was written by Jeff Vintar (I-Robot) and it is very faithful to the comics. It largely covers the ground of the first 20 issues or so. It's quite good and was well received by the studio.
We have been in touch mostly with Brian (largely because he's closer), who had a number of meetings with us and has been consulting throughout the process.
If the next pass of the script goes well, there is a good chance that New Line will green-light it for a 2006 release.
As for a movie versus a TV show -- well, we see it as a number of movies. And I have to say, the transition from comic to script was fairly easy.-----See here.

All the guys love Mimi Rogers. I saw her on Celebrity Poker Showdown and Phil Gordon nearly shoved people out of the way trying to get to her after the game was over.

'Y: The Last Man' Ordered to Series at FX
"Y: The Last Man is a towering achievement among graphic novel storytelling and it’s been rewarding to work with this outstanding team,” FX president of original programming Nick Grad said. “Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal have partnered with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson to deliver a stunning new expression of this fascinating and timely story. Melina Matsoukas, who directed the pilot, did an incredible job bringing it to life with Diane Lane and this stellar cast.”

Pretty stoked to see Diane Lane in the cast, but don't want to get too excited about this because so many series have disappointed me in the past few years. Either way, am excited that it's finally being brought to life.

Keoghan is so freakin' weird looking, it's going to take me a bit to get past that casting.
