Just 20 cents a day and we will moisten your dreams with man-urine.

Won't you help?

(And here's a link ilustrating the many, many reasons why it is such a folly to release a serious super-heroic Space Ghost title in this climate.)

I shave my sons' butts out of anger and they hate me for it.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 15 November 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Eh, I ain't gettin' out of bed just for JLA (even though it's pretty fun).

Huk-L, Monday, 15 November 2004 16:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Just some Vertigo for me - Human Target, Lucifer, and Ex Machina, plus Wolverine. I refuse to acknowledge the existence of this "Space Ghost".

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 15 November 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Is anyone else still reading Ex Machina btw? So far the political/mayor aspect is okay, sort of a cut-rate West Wing, but the retired superhero angle and the Kremlin character are great.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 15 November 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Exactamundo re: Ex Machina. Though I was fond of the Abe Lincoln painting & snowplow sub-plots. Even if they're seemingly setting up that blonde intern as the Donna Moss to the Mayor's Josh Lyman.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 15 November 2004 18:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Where is the Flash?

Huk-L, Monday, 15 November 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

He's off with his new Fleshlight.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 15 November 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Speaking of which, I see on second glance that the new BoP is out this week too. That, I'll get out of bed for. Lady Blackhaw, homina homina.

Huk-L, Monday, 15 November 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Wait week for me, I think. Is Thanksgiving next week? It'll be two wait weeks, then.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 15 November 2004 18:56 (twenty-one years ago)

This is so lame! I must have it.

So very green.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 15 November 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

So very lame.

If only it were a Ring Pop.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 15 November 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

That's what I hate about those Marvel lollipops with the Hulk or whatever on the wrapper, none of them are actually edible superheroes.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 15 November 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That Green Lantern has a freakishly large head.

What the hell is Space Ghost???

This week I will be getting Birds of Prey and Maddroxxx

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 15 November 2004 22:29 (twenty-one years ago)

This is Space Ghost, too:

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Bother. Didn't work.

Click this link instead. Not work safe, but not obviously work unsafe, either.

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 03:38 (twenty-one years ago)

And DC's not putting the kibbosh on this image why?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Because Frank Cho is awesome.

Huk-L, Tuesday, 16 November 2004 05:32 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh, I thought it was some sort of Ambush bug type comic I hadn't heard of.

Mark C (Markco), Tuesday, 16 November 2004 10:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, yes I got Birds of Prey and Madrox, so don't read on if youdon't want to be spoilt to frik.

BoP was good fun - the ladies fly off somewhere in their magic invisible aeroplane to fight that chick out of evanescence, who has developed weird magic powers. not as bootylicious as usual (Canary spends most of the episode wearing jeans! and a jacket!) and with fun action scenes and teamwork. Nice to have a fairly self contained issue, though there are refs to Bab's relationship with Dick "Killah!" Grayson and to her internet space rape tot torment. Next month they fight Harvester! Tremble in fear at her faux-rustic catering concept powers!!!

Madrox was the best one yet, I was only really reading this out of nostalgia for Peter david's XFactor but lots happened this issue. The final plot twist was identical to one used in XFactor though and that stupid assassin with the tattoos and white hair looks like a character out of Tekken or Virtua Fighter or something. By the time the series finishes I want the following things to happen: a) two of Jamie's gay dupes enjoy man-dupe love (they are so hinting at this) and b) Rahne says "Och, but I cannae, Professor MacTaggart! It's sinful, och!" like she used to say every damn month in New Mutants.

I Am With Job & Tight Tie:

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

EX MACHINA #6: Not available from store; comic store owner mulched the name of the book ("MaSHEENah", no "Ex") when informing me of this. He also talked to me about life experiences (involving computer trouble & condo board issues) he though I was there for (which I wasn't). But, anyway.

IDENTITY CRISIS #6: Tiny footprints!

JLA #108: Following in GM's "where's the JLA?" footsteps, this issue re-intros the Crime Syndicate (adding a little more flesh to what GM intro'd in Earth 2, but nothing crucial) & also brings QWARD! into the mix w/out mentioning or showing the "real" JLA. Fisticuffs ensue.

CATWOMAN #37: Ed Brubaker bows out gracefully, asking fans, "Why the hell did I bother doing all this work w/ Selina & her supporting cast if I was simply going to take off in 3 years' time & let someone else muck in my sandbox?" Oh, sure, it's SELINA asking these questions, but, duh, the name of the issue (easily the best since Gulacy's "realism" came onto the scene) is "Developing Character" (or something like that). The resolution: yeah, shit sucks, but things are OK, & I'm better off where I am now than where I was. Appropriately, as Brubaker heads off stage, Slam Bradley does as well. Not in line at all w/ any of the plot-driven x-over shenanigans of previous issues, and all the better for it.

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #69: Human Torch frets over loss of jacket. Spidey coughs a lot. The two wacky kids bond. Fun!

PULSE #6: Meh. Secret War x-over. Brent Anderson makes like Smudgy McScribble. Recaps a good chunk of SW stuff (perhaps because of the latter's lateness). Story is pushed forward in halfhearted fashion. Would be OK as a monthly; waiting 2 months for this is disappointing. Not that I'm complaining too much.

FANTASTIC FOUR #520: Johnny Storm IS the herald of GALACTUS! He HAS Sue Storm's invisibility powers! His costume IS an acquired taste! I WILL miss the Waid / Wieringo combo!

EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES #2 (of 8): No, really, you should all read this. Granted, paying $3.50 US every two weeks for 4 months might be a bit much, but it's excellent stuff, simultaneously "filling in" & fleshing out some of the logic & character gaps in the Avenger's creation, w/ the focus on the behind-the-scenes rodeo - Iron Man talking to government liasons, Captain America trying to acclamate to modern day life, Rick Jones stealing food from the fridge, the burgeoning tension between Hank & Janet. It's well done on all ends. Special cameo appearance by pieces of the Lava Men. MARTIN SKIDMORE IF YOU LOVE THE AVENGERS YOU SHOULD READ THIS!

I shall now take a break and tend to meager "work" matters. More to come! STAY TUNED!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Tiny footprints in the brain
Are they Nightwing's? Or are they Ray's?
Tiny footprints make me warm all over
with the feeling it still could be Dick Grayson's gone insane

FF: THE HERALD OF GALACTUS?!?!?!

Avengers EMH: What is this about? Is this like the FF: World's Greatest Comics Magazine from a couple years ago? That one started out way too tributey, I never ended up finishing it.

Tep (ktepi), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I just looked up World's Greatest Comics Magazine - just by the sheer number of folks on board, it looks like a mess! No, EMH is by Joe Casey & Scott Kolins, & more in like w/ Casey's work on X-Men: Children of the Atom (a "retelling" of the X origins illustrated by Steve Rude), though the closest antecedent I can think of that I've actually read is Untold Tales of Spider-Man - it's recasting the creation of the Avengers in a more modern setting (cf. Cap watching CNN) while staying true to the actual Avengers stuff (cf. Hulk's an original member, they find Cap in the Arctic, they fight Loki & the Lava Men). Unlike Untold, I don't believe there are going to be new characters & villains introduced - Casey's simply taking the stories that have already been told & respectfully fluffing their pillows. & perhaps doing a little furniture rearrangement.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:45 (twenty-one years ago)

So, something that has no place on this earth, then.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew, I didn't mention L!efeld at all.
