New board for alt/ug/art comics?

Could we start a board just for alt/ug/art comics? I know, there're already 'art' and 'indie' categories for this board but sometimes alt/ug/art comics threads get into 'uncategorised' and it's tiring having to sift through all the superhero stuff if you're not into it.

So -an "I Love alt/ug/art comics" board: yay or nay?

Would you be ok with an "Underground comix" category? A separate board for such a specialized genre seems kind of pointless to me.

I've been meaning to categorize threads. I have been slacking. Separating all this stuff out would suck. Everything can co-exist in Happy Fun Space (AKA ILC). Lee, start posting ILC links on those Swedish nudie sites, would you?

Also, RR: Go to the 2004 ILC Poll Nominations thread!

I'm all about the Danish sites now.

"Would you be ok with an "Underground comix" category? A separate board for such a specialized genre seems kind of pointless to me."

No, there're enough alt/ug/art comics threads being posted here to justify it. But a new "Underground comix" category would be a good compromise. Or maybe call it "Alternative/Underground/Literary/Fine Art comics" as a good umbrella term (defining these different types of comics is a whole can of worms, so an umbrella term would work best hopefully)?

"Also, RR: Go to the 2004 ILC Poll Nominations thread!"

Done.

Let's make a new board for indie/underground/art music too!

Or, not.

(heh heh "ug comix")

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 7 January 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I thought "ug" stood for "ugly."

Leeeter van den Hoogenband (Leee), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:10 (twenty years ago)

I think "Underground comix" already includes alt (what do I know, though, I consider Oni to be indie), and I think the already existing "Art" category is vague/broad enough to include literary (itself generically contentious)/fine art books.

And when I said that it'd be pointless to have a separate board for ug, it wasn't a comment on the number of threads, but that such specific specialization was unnecessary (comics is the medium, ug is a genre -- should one or more genres warrant their own board?), which Jordan articulates better than I have.

As a mainly superhero-thread propagator, I'd be really sad if all the other stuff moved to a different board. I'm real curious about it, and enjoy reading the Ugly Altoids Threads.

United we stand, divided etc.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 7 January 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

What about indie superhero's? Who's the most emo? I reckon Hawkeye.

(ick, I hate it when I make a lame joke and then I notice the email notifications tag, very sorry)

Totally opposed to this, you might as well have a separate board for UK humour comics while we're at it. It's not as if ILC is particularly big anyway.
