(have we done this before?)

Anyway, supercool Ed McGuinness-based DC action figures. I don't buy action figures, but these are cool as all whatnot.

Green Lanter/Green Arrow collector's plate? COME ON!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 19 January 2005 20:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I may read comics, but I draw the line at buying dolls. I mean, you can't decorate around these things?!

I've recently toyed with the idea of getting that Spirit bust where he's tied up and covered in lipstick marks.

I hate all the collectible crap that has started easing comics out of comics shops.

Word 'em up!
Seriously, collector's plates? COME ON! We're nerds, not ninnies!

i have this - http://www.collectmad.com/collectibles/stupid_greenlantern.jpg - on one of my bedroom dressers, posed. i always have to remember to quickly sweep it into a drawer if a lady's entering the arena, but i take it RIGHT BACK OUT afterwards.

Ha ha ha, I should see if I can find pictures of me at Halloween 1986, I may have a lawsuit!

I have a wind-up toy of Charlie Busted. That's not really an action figure though.

Isabel has a stuffed toy Superted.

Both these characters have been in comics btw, don't give me that look.

hah, Huk, you started the last one!

Action Figures, C/D

I have a few action figure thingies, mostly Trsnsformers.

I am soooo lame!

Huk-L, Friday, 21 January 2005 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing is, I had a bunch of the 80s Super Powers a/f's and played with them all the time, creating crazy adventures, and making all kinds of weird accessories. I was, maybe, something of a solitary kid, and so seeing all these action figures reminds me of those serene and imagination-fuelled days, but I think I'm way too self-conscious to actually play with action figures now.
Part of me would like to see if I still could though.

You are so the DC guy, dude. If we had hung out together as kids to trade comics, we would have just stared at each others' collections, and then I would've tried to get you to trade me a Batman for my Red Sonja.

I have a Jesus action figure on the desk I haven't used since buying my laptop, some Kingdom Come figures, and a Manny Ramirez in the upstairs bathroom; my girlfriend has a stuffed Daniel-from-Sandman.

They seem so much more expensive now, though, even relative to comic books, which are proportionally more expensive than they used to be. When I was a kid, I could get a GI Joe guy or a Secret Wars figure or whatever and still have allowance money left for comics.

(Yeah yeah, I know, they have 1001 points of articulation now and the strands of hair in Tigra's fur are individually hand-painted.)

I was tempted to buy both a Brak cookie jar & a Spider-Man bobble-head yesterday (both discounted).

David R. (popshots75`), Saturday, 22 January 2005 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

If the Brak cookie jar was a talking Brak cookie jar, I would call you crazy for passing it up.

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 22 January 2005 03:01 (twenty-one years ago)

It didn't talk unless I supplied the voice. Which I'd do w/out hesitation. But I had already dropped some cash on my weekly fix, and I couldn't really think of a use for the jar (besides the obvious - Something Cool To Own and Stare At and Play With and Name George), so there it sits, waiting to be brought into a loving home chock-full of chocolate chip cookies.

HEYYYYYY, evvaBUDDAH!

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 22 January 2005 03:50 (twenty-one years ago)

See, just reading that makes me happy. I need a talking Brak cookie jar. And really ... don't we all?
