Douglas, your mention of AW triggered some atavistic comic memory involving some issue of Action Comics or Adventure Comics w/ Air Wave on the cover flying away, w/ that flat-lightning-bolt "no wait! it's a sound wave!" thing in place of his legs, which I nearly forgot about in my attempts to recast my 1st comic experiences as MARVEL MARVEL MARVEL.

The Ray thing happened somewhere or other in the first year of his Priest-written series, I forget exactly where. He (19 years old) and Black Canary (double his age or so) had been working together a bunch, and then there's a scene where Dinah wakes up and realizes that 1) she was with Ray last night, and 2) now he's left. As I recall, they're both kind of freaked out about it. I believe there was subsequently an editorial edict that That Never Happened.
