Just Ambush Bug for me, even though the last issue was pretty spot-off. The Showcase Prez Ambush Bug is in the BRAND NEW Feb solicits, but won't be out until March. By which time, there may not even be a DC Comics left.

Let's see...

AIR #4
AMBUSH BUG YEAR NONE #4
EX MACHINA #39

Plus browsing the deeply discounted (due to a moving sale) graphic novels for anything I've been putting off getting.

I read the Jonathan Ames graphic novel this week. It was pretty good.

did see (and desire)
- first two volumes of tesuka's black jack
- essential hulk volume five
- chip kidd's 'controversial' batmanga book
- third volume of thimble theatre
- that nice tomb of dracula hardcover

For me:

JSA Magog special -- Maaaaaaaaaaaaybe. I'll look through it first.
Supergirl -- Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe. I'll look through and figure out how relevant or skippable it is in terms of New Krypton plot.
Fantastic Four
Uncanny X-Men
X-Men Legacy
X-Factor
Angel

Wasn't RIP supposed to come out this week?

THEY'RE DELAYING TO SYNC UP WITH DARK KNIGHT DVD RELEASE.

But not really.

GOD, JUST:
PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL
and last week's BPRD.

I also may take another look at the B/F UNCANNY, which very well may have gained some gusto since the rather tedious first issue - I dunno.

I got 30 early-80s pre-Baxter LOSH issues on Sunday--for $20. OOH BABY BABY. (I was supposed to be buying a crib) I kinda think this is where I'm going with comics, ie amassing a collection, since I'm increasingly cooled on everything not Final Crisis or Batman RIP at DC right now. And post FC/BRIP? I don't know if there's a place for me in TODAY'S DC Comics.
THAT SADFACE IS MINE!!!

Good Lord (choke)--I don't think there's anything I'm buying this week! That's just weird!

Okay, maybe if I stumble into a pile of $$$ I'll pick up the Garth Ennis Punisher omnibus. And I recommend the Love & Capes collection to those of you who might enjoy it (think "Powers" as a sitcom). But really, I think for once I won't be making a trip to the funnybook store.

Air, Pax Romana and Atomic Robo(maybe) for me.

Stone Monkey, Wednesday, 19 November 2008 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link

It was awfully nice for the Matt Fraction who writes Iron Man and Iron Fist to show up and write an issue of Uncanny X-Men. It's either Ed Brubaker is a big problem, or Fraction suddenly remembered that a great deal of people read the X-Men and that he should put effort into things bearing his name.

Speaking of UXM, I jumped off of the comix bandwagon for a while when most of the current newbie mutants were introduced and really fleshed out. I know about the rapid-aging thing with Pixie but was she always written as being balls-out awesome or is this a recent development? (Also she's kind of AOA Blink pt 2, isn't she?)

It's fun to imagine Angel and Beast are vacationing in an issue of CASANOVA. ALSO: I feel kind of embarrassed for the entire genre that it's taken this long for someone to coin the term "futurfuhrer".
