I do love re-reading a big chunk of American Elfs when the books come out but might wait for a Top Shelf mail-order sale this timeThe existence of a THIRTY DOLLAR ZOMBIE VARIANT ($A) of Glamourpuss #4 makes me want to stop buying all Dave Sim comics forever! Is this what it feels like to be everyone else? Two years to stick all those first-print Sloth guts into a new cover! Surely the cost of warehousing over all this time would have added up to the cost of actually printing a paperback edition?Totally psyched for Rocky vol 2! If only a shop actually gets it in...

Batman RIP, Blue Beetle RIP, and Captain America RIP - I don't think I'll be reading any of these in three months.
― Oh Why, Sports Coat? (Dr. Superman), Tuesday, 25 November 2008 03:06 (sixteen years ago)
Big week for me:
Buffy, Batman, Superman, JSA special, Captain America, Daredevil, SI: X-Men, Glamourpuss, and the issue of Spider-Man from last week cos I didn't realize til yesterday that it was by Mark Waid and Marcos Martin.
― Dr. Perpetua, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 03:46 (sixteen years ago)
Batman RIP
It's OK, I dropped a bunch of cash on .50 cent issues this past weekend, so I am not looking for much.

I have been amazed by how enjoyable I find Glamourpuss, though not so enjoyable I want to spend 30 big ones on an issue.
― The Real Dirty Vicar, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 16:52 (sixteen years ago)
Actually, I enjoyed that issue of Spider-Man so much that I'm gonna buy this one too, just to see how the cliffhangers resolve.
― Douglas, Tuesday, 25 November 2008 17:23 (sixteen years ago)
Nice, I'll pick that up. I've been missing some classic cornpone Waid storytelling lately. That guy Marcos Martin is terrific, too.
But apart from that, just RIP.

How come I'm the last to find out that Legion of Superheroes is being canceled? First I find out in like, May, that Jim Shooter is back, and I hustle around to get all the issues since his return (#37-) and then two days ago I google around and read about how he's had a falling out with DC and it's all over. How am I ever going to be a full-fledged Legion freak when stuff like this happens...
― Chelvis, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 04:27 (sixteen years ago)
OH WOW!:
If Jog's right about the release of Huizenga's new series (FIGHT OR RUN, which I read some of in an anthology sometime back (um, BLOOD ORANGES (???)), I gettin' that too.
― R Baez, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 19:41 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah, FIGHT OR RUN is totally great.
Chelvis, LEGION is only being kinda-sorta cancelled; it's returning as ADVENTURE COMICS next year, supposedly with some kind of Geoff Johns involvement.
― Douglas, Wednesday, 26 November 2008 20:59 (sixteen years ago)
Has the Legion ever not been published in one form or another for more than a couple of months at a time (I remember a pause between the Levitz and the Bierbaum series)?
― Oh Why, Sports Coat? (Dr. Superman), Wednesday, 26 November 2008 22:22 (sixteen years ago)
no, but some of those forms have been pretty dire!
― numismatic factory (sic), Thursday, 27 November 2008 01:54 (sixteen years ago)
who cares? it's a saturn girl!

The third Legion Showcase is out April 7th, per Amazong.
― scampering alpaca, Thursday, 27 November 2008 05:22 (sixteen years ago)
About up to what year will the 3rd Legion Showcase cover? Are they up to the Shooter issues yet?
― earlnash, Thursday, 27 November 2008 05:34 (sixteen years ago)
The Shooter stuff starts in vol. 2, actually! That volume goes up through Adventure #348, so I imagine vol. 3 will polish off most of the Adventure Comics era.
