According to this blog post, Phillips is in #250!

Which gives me an idea for a thread.

Age of Sentry - this has been really fun thus far

Amazing Spider-Man Family - for the Coover story

Invincible Iron Man. Also, I might succumb and buy the Omega the Unknown trade. Any good? Or better to wait for the paperback?

Chuck_Tatum, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 17:49 (sixteen years ago) link

We (wife and I) really liked the Omega the Unknown trade.

Mordy, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

So, you have our recommendation.

Mordy, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

omega is uneven but well worth reading. i wonder if it reads better in trade.

Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 December 2008 18:22 (sixteen years ago) link

It does. I stopped reading the singles after the 3rd or 4th issue because I became too confused. It's much, much better in trade.

AIR #5
EX MACHINA #40
FABLES #79
MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #12

I'm just about to start the Omega trade (assuming this is the Lethem one). I just finished the collection of the Gerber et. al. issues, which sort of hinted at something interesting and never entirely got there.

I kinda can't believe anyone is giving this Dark Reign shit the time of day after the debacle that was Secret Invasion. To each his/her own, but I've dropped every Marvel title that doesn't have an 'X' in it (and about half of those that do). Although, that said:

Uncanny X-Men
X-Factor
X-Men: Legacy
Tales of the Beanworld
Hellblazer
Supergirl

I never thought it would happen, but I'm currently a way bigger fan of Geoff Johns DC stuff than anything that Marvel is putting out. Wow.

Also: MILLIGAN ALERT! For those who aren't aware, Peter Milligan is taking over as regular writer on Hellblazer very soon (possibly as of 251?). And he wrote the iffy Moon Knight special that came out a couple of weeks back.

did not know about the Moon Knight thing. might give that a look. and I'll definitely be picking up his Hellblazer. his current Sub-Mariner mini has been pretty good, and I dug The Programme more than most, I think.

GM, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 19:43 (sixteen years ago) link

I liked Omega as single issues but thought it was FANTASTIC in trade.

Douglas, Tuesday, 16 December 2008 22:58 (sixteen years ago) link

Nothing for me, but the bookshop finally got in my special order of Popeye vol 3 so it’s the BESTEST COMICS WEEK OF THE YEAR!!!

And I’d pick up GREATEST AMERICAN HERO #1 (OF 3) to read in the shop if I saw it.
