Hootie hoo! A very very slow week, especially if Marvel delays New Avengers. Again.

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 20 March 2005 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Runaways and Seven Soldiers for me, and maybe JLA: Classfied and Spidey/Torchy.

I finally read V for Vendetta over the weekend, as well as Powers: Forever (super-hominids!). I got Sleeper vol. 3 too, but I have to re-read the previous volume(s) first since I have NO memory of what was going on.

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 20 March 2005 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad I didn't go this week.
JLA: CLass, maybe Nightwing, Spidey/Torchy...isn't there supposed to be a damn Question issue sometime?

Huk-L, Monday, 21 March 2005 05:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Dccomics.com says that GL: Rebirth #5 is shipping this week too!

Huk-L, Monday, 21 March 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

No Rebirth this week. Batman Chronicles Vol. 1 was supposed to ship but doesn't appear to be either.

Huk-L, Tuesday, 22 March 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone read Fragile? Is it good? It has zombies, right?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I think you're confusing Fragile with Strangers In Paradise, Jordan.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

You evil man.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Thee actual list!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Only Milligan X-Men and Daredevil for me.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Having seen an advance copy of Guardian, I can tell you that it is, as anticipated, Morrison's attempt to out-Kirby Insanity Kirby's insanity ca. JIMMY OLSEN. Lovely stuff.

Also for me: Daredevil! New Avengers! The first issue of the new Ed the Happy Clown series (which is apparently a mildly-to-heavily revised version of the original serial from Yummy Fur, which if you haven't read it is THE MOST AMAZING PSYCHOTIC COMIC EVER)!

Douglas (Douglas), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I was gonna ask about Ed! Thanks, Douglas! It's going on the list!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw man. I guess I'll get Guardian if that's the case. I'm just tired of being disappointed by Morrison lately.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 01:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Tired ... of being disappointed ... by GRANT MORRISON? Holy crap I think my brane just melahdkaljdk

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 02:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I haven't fully enjoyed anything he's done since the end of New X-Men. Viminarama is the best of the lot, but that's a very far cry from the great heights of Kill Yr Boyfriend.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't get me wrong, Seaguy and We3 have fabulous artwork. I'm just not crazy about the stories.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't even get me started on The Filth. Zzzzzzzzzz.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 13:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Hilarious review of recent Claremont X-Men:

not so hilarious review of 7Sold: Guardian:
http://www.thefourthrail.com/reviews/snapjudgments/032105/sevensoldiersguardian1.shtml

Compares it frequently to "other Seven Soldiers series", when, um, there's been 7S #0 and one issue of Shining Knight. Presumptive, much?

Huk-L, Wednesday, 23 March 2005 20:47 (twenty-one years ago)

Like the other Seven Soldiers series, this book is tripping its balls off in the best way imaginable. So am I, actually! Woooooo! Wooo woo! 10/10

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 20:50 (twenty-one years ago)

They didn't seem to have Daredevil or Ed the Happy Clown at the store I went to, but they did have New Avengers, which is SO much fun. Esp. the cleverest variation on the post-Hostess "how to defeat the bad guy using pastries" meme I've ever seen.

Douglas (Douglas), Thursday, 24 March 2005 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

All-beard is coming!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 24 March 2005 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Matthew, did you read either of the Seven Soldiers comics that are out? For me, this IS Morrison back on form. But then again I can't remember whether you liked Marvel Boy or not, and Shining Knight is essential Marvel Boy with swords...

Flyboy (Flyboy), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Anyway, this is a big week for me I think. Daredevil - nice to see the "he's a wacky Christian moralist" stuff laid on thick again, I've missed the way Bendis had him saying things like "Go home and change your life!" when he punches people. And 100 Bullets, which I am psyched for after last issue's BOMBSHELL...

Flyboy (Flyboy), Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to get comics today! I haven't been for two weeks, so it should be quite the haul!

Huk-L, Thursday, 24 March 2005 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

No, the last time I was in a comics store, the Seven Soldiers stuff was all sold out. I wasn't very heartbroken.

No, I didn't care for Marvel Boy. The Grant Morrison I like is the one who did Doom Patrol, Kill Your Boyfriend, New X-Men, and about half of the Invisibles.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Thursday, 24 March 2005 19:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Guardian: fantastic.

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 26 March 2005 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

New Avengers is fun, but I'm not convinced yet. Bendis is a bit too much of a nothing-much-happens-each-issue, wait-for-the-trades type writer for my liking. And it's too much like JLI for jocks.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Sunday, 27 March 2005 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't remember what week the last Birdsof Prey came out as I was on holiday, but I really liked the plot twist - was cool to take a superhero cliche (ie the adventure/plot always seems to reflect the superhero's current mental state and teach them Important Lessons) and turn it into an actual plot point (ie Babs selecting missions on purpose, specifically to teach her agent's Important Lessons)

Mark C (Markco), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:26 (twenty years ago)

The Grant Morrison who did Kill Your Boyfriend is totally the same guy who did Marvel Boy! He's the guy who's in love with the idea of pretty young lovers committing morally dubious but stylish acts of violence against a corrupt world. And then having pervertsex.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 09:49 (twenty years ago)

Eh. I wasn't into The Guardian.

Sure, the themes of Kill Yr Boyfriend and Marvel Boy are similar, but the execution is very different. I'm just so sick of this over the top sci fi stuff. I just want him to write CHARACTERS. That's what I love in KYB, NXM, Doom Patrol, and half of the Invisibles - the characters are worth sitting through the occasional mumbojumbo.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 12:53 (twenty years ago)

Well, my partner was so distressed by the death of Chubby the Tuna, she's refused to read any GM comics ever again.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 13:19 (twenty years ago)

"'Da Fug?" is my most favoritist catchphrase ever.

But Guardian is WIKKED!
