Every week I look for Shaolin Cowboy #8 and every week I am told to shaddap and be patient.

What a great week.

I don't know if it ever has been, I don't follow the news sites closely enough. I like getting the surprises on Monday.

ADVENTURE COMICS #0--this is apparently a significant GeoffJohnsverse thing
FINAL CRISIS LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #3--so is this
AGENTS OF ATLAS #1--if it justifies its price tag (with extra pages, that is)
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #10--what is this "Secret Retailer Variant"?!
MARVEL: YOUR UNIVERSE #1--cheap intro to a few series I'm curious about
COMIC BOOK COMICS #3--ooh! Glad they're still doing this
SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE UNIVERSE--goes without saying

Plus I need to get that OISHINBO book Jog just wrote about.

Why don't they just quit doing the three-times-a-month AMAZING and reprint the Obama issue with a new cover every week?

FINAL CRISIS LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #3 (OF 5)
AGE OF SENTRY #5 (OF 6)
AGENTS OF ATLAS #1

I don't know if it ever has been, I don't follow the news sites closely enough. I like getting the surprises on Monday.

You'd rather go in every week for guaranteed disappointment than be told you definitely don't have to bother coming in for three months?

BATMAN #676
FINAL CRISIS LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #3 (OF 5)
SANDMAN DREAM HUNTERS #4 (OF 4)
SUPERMAN #675
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #585
MIGHTY AVENGERS #21

And I suppose that's it...

Wally West, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 13:26 (fifteen years ago) link

No, Jesus, I don't actually go to the comic shop to find out what's coming out! I'm talking about looking at the "expected to ship" list each week instead of finding out three months in advance when solicitations go out.

WmC, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 14:32 (fifteen years ago) link

holy shit. With FC over (except lameduck Legion) the real Batbooks on hiatus, and Blue Beetle ending, all's that's left on my pull list is Madman and Kyle Baker's Special Forces!

Kyle Baker's Special Forces - will this every come out again?

James Morrison, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 22:48 (fifteen years ago) link

he's put the first two issues online

Oh Why, Sports Coat? (Dr. Superman), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 23:15 (fifteen years ago) link

if you'd rather read those again than new issues.

KULL #4 (OF 6) - Dark Horse's Robert E. Howard comics are all pretty good. Kull has not been quite as good as the Solomon Kane mini-series or the current Conan book Dark Horse is putting out, but is still a fine read.
SECRET SIX #6 - This is the conclusion to the first storyline, which has been pretty good. I have to say, I was surprised by the reveal on 'Junior' at the end of #5. It definitely wasn't where I was expecting to go with the character. Deadshot is a cool character. I used to love the old Suicide Squad book and he was pretty much the star in that series too. Floyd is one of my favorite comic characters and I'll be ticked if someone ever gets the green light to let him actually end it all.
FINAL CRISIS LEGION OF THREE WORLDS #3 (OF 5) - I still haven't read the second one. I got it and was going to read 1 over with 2 and 3 when it came in and it has been a good while since it shipped. I read #1, but other than Superboy-Prime arguing with a Jimmy Olsen robot, I don't remember much.

SCOTT PILGRIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, as a bonus: Legion of 3 Worlds, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and Iron Man.

Dr. Perpetua, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 00:47 (fifteen years ago) link

my baby spit up on my Scott Pilgrim tshirt yesterday. I think that means six more weeks of winter.

I'm also going to eventually get Iron Man, but it is the first issue of my subscription. I ended up subscribing to a few Marvel books about a month ago. I am a bit curious to see how it works out. They send an email with your issue when your sub starts and ends. I'm thinking about picking up Amazing Spider-man via subscription, as it is like 36 issues for $50 bucks.

earlnash, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 01:16 (fifteen years ago) link

That's a pretty good price!

I remember subscribing to a few titles back in the 70s and they were mailed folded in half. They finally switched to mailing them flat around 76-77, but they didn't arrive in much better shape.

WmC, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 02:21 (fifteen years ago) link

I thought the price was pretty good. I haven't read much newer Spider-man since I started reading comics a few years back. I read some of JMS and JR Jr's run on the Amazing Spider-man DVD, but not much else. I got the first two issues of that Dave Lapham mini-series out of the cheap bin that is a re-do of the origin but haven't read them yet. If I could ever find a copy of the Obama issue, I might just jump right in and then figure out as it goes.

I had subscriptions on a few comics when I was a kid, as I would get them for Christmas. I know I had a few issues that came in rough shape. The shape is not as big a deal now, as the comics can take a bit more damage now.

earlnash, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 03:22 (fifteen years ago) link

Man, that is the worst likeness of Obama ever on that Spidey cover.

Oh I love Scott 5 so so so much.

Mr. Perpetua, Thursday, 5 February 2009 04:05 (fifteen years ago) link

Haven't they been mailing comics in bags and boards for well over a decade now?

Mr. Perpetua, Thursday, 5 February 2009 04:06 (fifteen years ago) link

some people haven't been kids for well over a decade :(

Oh Why, Sports Coat? (Dr. Superman), Thursday, 5 February 2009 07:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Back in the early '80s, I ordered subscriptions to Batman and Detective Comics. Apparently, some data processor in the subscription department typed a superfluous "1" under "quantity": for a year I was sent one copy a month of Batman and 11 copies a month of Detective, 10 of which I immediately resold.
