ONE DOLLAR BOB! (Also OMG SECRET WAR IS BACK!)

Also: please to cut the crap re: calling 2nd printings "limited variants", even if it's factually correct. Of course, the muffin I'm gonna have in 30 minutes is a "limited variant," too!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 28 March 2005 13:06 (twenty years ago)

Aw, crap. I have to go down just to buy a dollar (probably more like $3.50 Cdn, though) comic and a lousy Flash (though, um, Rogue War!)?

Huk-L, Monday, 28 March 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

Hukster, if anything, it's CHEAPER to buy US goods in Canada now that the current administration is screwing the almighty pooch.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 28 March 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, DC (I haven't noticed if Marvel has or not) actually lowered their Cdn cover prices in March, which, I don't think has EVER BEEN DONE.

Huk-L, Monday, 28 March 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

Warren Ellis' Ocean and Astonishing X-Men for me.

This is the week where Maddie is going to break up with the comic book shop where she's been going for 10 + years (and I've been going to for 2 or 3).

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 28 March 2005 13:56 (twenty years ago)

Good luck w/ the break-up! My new relationship is going pretty well, though it's hit a rough patch. It's my fault, though - my employer thought it'd be neat to not pay me for 4 days. (DAMN YOU EASTER!)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 28 March 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

The Pulse and Secret War one-two for me! I don't understand why anyone who's buying Secret War and, you know, reading it for the story isn't also reading The Pulse...

Also: Legion!

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 28 March 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

That first issue of the Pulse Secret War story (which retold a good chunk of Secret War) was really pushing it - I'm glad BMB branched off of that issue-long recap to actually tell a different story.

POUR MOI:

BPRD THE DEAD #5 (OF 5)
CONCRETE HUMAN DILEMMA #4 (OF 6) (MR) (HE'S PREGNANT!)
RING VOL 0 TP (curious...)

BATMAN #638
DC COUNTDOWN #1
LEGION OF SUPER HEROES #4
OCEAN #5 (OF 6)
OTHERWORLD #1 (OF 12) (MR) (PHIL JIMENEZ!) (sic?)

SEA OF RED #1 (MR) (VAMPIRE PIRATES!) (Or is it ZOMBIE PIRATES?) (Anyway, it's UNDEAD PIRATES!)

ASTONISHING X-MEN #9
DAREDEVIL REDEMPTION #3 (OF 6)
FANTASTIC FOUR #524 (LAST WAID / WIERINGO!)
MARVEL KNIGHTS SPIDER-MAN #12 (LAST MILLAR / DODSON!)
PULSE #8
SECRET WAR BOOK FOUR (OF FIVE)
ULTIMATE SECRET #1 (OF 4) (RES)
X-MEN PHOENIX ENDSONG #4 (OF 5)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 28 March 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

RING VOL 0 TP (curious...)

Dark Horse actually lists this as Volume 5, but it sounds like it's an adaptation of Ring 0, the prequel movie (itself based on a short story in the last Ring book; the various versions of the Ring stuff get complicated).

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 28 March 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

(As a side note, though -- the translation in Dark Horse's Ring manga has been terrible, and if you haven't been picking up the others, I'd recommend skipping it and going for the novels instead.)

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 28 March 2005 16:25 (twenty years ago)

Yay for shitty translations!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 28 March 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

I dunno when it's shipping, but Ryan Sook's art on Zatanna looks hothothothot.

Huk-L, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

And the Popcultureshock.com preview has a familiar face in it!

Huk-L, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:12 (twenty years ago)

!!! Curiouser and curiouser.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 17:31 (twenty years ago)

Who??

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

Did you read SS#0 Jordan?

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah, was it that woman with the wig?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

Black Canary doesn't wear a wig anymore.

Huk-L, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

Astonishing X-Men and Legion of Super Heroes for me. Nice!

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Oh yeah, and Fantastic Four!

Good week for me.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

Excellent AXM cover...

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 22:35 (twenty years ago)

Hoo boy!
Outsiders came out this week, much to my surprise! Further surprising me, the art was actually good! Some dude named Shawn Moll. Really excellent stuff.
Even Winick acknowledges that having Arsenal get his ass whupped is getting old, even though he did again here AND is doing it in Green Arrow (and maybe it was happening just off-panel in Batman, too).
