IT'S LIKE A DIABOLICAL CARWASH!!! I will never get enough.

One of the interesting but seldom touched on things about the Ted Kord Blue Beetle was his gentleness. I mean, he had a gun that alternately fired air-blasts or light-flashes.

Dr. Strange? Oracle? Engineer? Kitty Pryde? Air Wave? Brainiac 5? Arguably the 7 Soldiers Bulleteer?

Oy - Kitty Pryde just entered my mind a moment after I posted.

Clearly I've got other things on my mind - it just occured to me that TWO of the figures I initially posted are messianic in nature (MM and Buddha). Not to mention the Tezuka connection between the first and third.

There's a difference between "not inclined toward" and "eschews all."

Denny O'Neill's Question would always mention that he abhors violence whenever he punched someone's face in.

look, all I'm saying is that Kitty seems pretty happy fucking ppl up when someone messes with her love interests

Animal Man seems like an obv fit here.

Point taken - I should have thought this thread topic through. I'm not sure where a new thread would be worthwhile or merely an annoying afterthought after this, but I'm considering it...

Mr. Fantastic seems to try to understand things before making action. Reed Richards first inclination is definitely not to fight and as it comes up in the stories, he isn't afraid to pull a fast one on someone to psych them out of a fight.

I really liked how in Morrison's Doom Patrol Joshua just stopped using his (inherently violent) superpower because he thought it was silly, and became the teams doctor working on the background. Too bad he had to die.

Soranik Natu in the new Green Lantern comics is a doctor who mostly uses the Green Lantern power to heal people. She has been shown in a few fights, but I think she's made it clear she doesn't like violence. I think she's a cool character (most other female Green Lanterns seem to function mostly as love interests for the male Green Lanterns), but she hasn't been given that much focus lately.

Though I'm pretty sure she will be revealed as Sinestro's secret daughter, the existence of whom was hinted in the latest issue of GL. Maybe she'll get more space as that story develops.

Concrete.

Concrete's a great example, the whole premise of the series is pretty much, "What if there was a superhero who didn't use his power for violence but for other things?".

Swamp Thing, Sandman, Shade the Changing Man... heck, most of the (non-Morrisson/Ennis/Ellis) Vertigo stable.

Morpheus was never violent, but he could be a cruel motherfucker.

Let's not forget Stone Boy.

I don't think you can count Morpheus as a superhero.
