No one seems willing to defend his run on Robin. No one so far has said anything good about his other DC work-for-hire.
Merv Pumpkinhead was perfectly fine. Not brilliant, but nothing wrong with it. I don't remember offhand what else he's done at Vertigo -- the Furies? or was that Carey?
Has he done anything good with other peoples' characters, outside of Sandman spin-offs?

Oh wait, he did that Thessaly mini-series last year that I really liked, even though I didn't read enough of Sandman to encounter the character there.

I'll still read his comix, but seriously, fuck this guy's politics. He's indistinguishable from Jonah Goldberg on Big Hollywood.

It really is a shame, because Fables is some fun stuff. (I find that editorial he wrote condemning the darkness of superheroes to be err, bizarrely hypocritical...) Enjoyed Day of Vengeance as well. I've heard Proposition Player was good, too, though I haven't read it.
His Batman/Detective Comics stuff, though, stay away. Stay far away.

Torrenting the complete Fables so far at the moment, having bought the first three trades, and conveniently (not to mention illogically) his politics make me feel not in the least bit guilty about it.

Thankfully he's no Frank Miller, so the politics in Fables don't usually get explicit enough to ruin the story. I think the first Arabian fables story and the Israel analogy made by Bigby are the only bits where I've been like, fuck you. I haven't yet read anything past volume 10 though, hope it doesn't get more dodgy...

ELEMENTALS is pretty darn good. At least I remember it being so at the time that it came out. The storyline wasn't ever finished (Comico went under), but elements of the line that ELEMENTALS was following were apparently used in his book PANTHEON, which came out from Lone Star Press, I'm thinking. I haven't actually read it, so not sure how it holds up (and to be honest, haven't read ELEMENTALS since the late eighties.)
I really wanted to like SHADOWPACT, but it ended up doing not so much for me.

His politics are weird--dark superheroes are bad, but rampant elf pornography is OK?
