Well close enough, they are going to be doing a Keith Giffen written Doom Patrol book that is going to feature a regular Metal Men backup feature by JM DeMatteis, Keith Giffen and Kevin Maguire who did the classic 80s Justice League.
This is one title that DC is publishing that could be fun. I hope that they play off of the mad scientist island story of 52 in both books.
DC is also doing a Showcases of the classic Doom Patrol and Ambush Bug books this spring, so that makes three books they are putting out that I would like to get.

I do like what appears to be DC's new back-up feature trend, and I kinda hope the stories' shorter page counts will lead to denser, more silver-agey pacing.

This could be fun, although Morrison's Doom Patrol was what first got me into comics in a big way, so I get a bit prickly about anyone else touching those characters (which is stupid, but hey, it's comics).

I'm looking forward to this, but like JM says, I'm wary of any post-Morrison Doom Patrols. And it's sad to see the post-52 Morrison/Rouleau Metal Men glossed over so quickly.

Ooh, I might want to check this out. I have no problem with other people besided Morrison writing these characters, since all of them besides Crazy Jane were already around before he became the writer, and Jane hasn't been used since Morrison's run ended, right? So the new Doom Patrol will be just another alternate take on the team, just like Morrison's was.
On the other hand, since Morrison is now a big name in mainstream DC, wouldn't it be cool if he wrote a new DP series? He doesn't seem much interested in returning to his old characters though.

I'd love to see more Cliff and Jane though, and I don't think anyone else besides Morrison would even want to write Jane.

These are fairly obscure teams. I don't think rebooting them now and again is going to eliminate any possibility of future interest based on this or that past interpretation.

Well, the Doom Patrol has set up their headquarters in Oolong Island, so that should be fun.
And I don't think they are glossing over Rouleau's Metal Men...that story was fairly self contained. I'm sure we'll see Magnus and all of our favourites.

I've got a feeling that Keith Giffen will probably both do his own thing while building off what has been done. I'd think Giffen is a good fit for the Doom Patrol characters, as he won't try to make them into the X-men.
I thought the Doom Patrol appearance in the Secret Six mini-series was pretty cool.
I'd love to see someone do a modern slant story of 'DOOM PATROL : YEAR ONE'.

Here is an interview with Keith Giffen on his plans for Doom Patrol. It sounds pretty good to me.
