Well then, you should be the one who has to clean up the mess that left.

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

Whatever - it happened in some Middle Eastern country. It was messy when I got there.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Seriously, tho - giving kids (BOYS!) the chance to decide whether a fictional character lives or dies: C/D/Mindfuck?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Sorry - that should be "Grim Mindfuck".

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

You sound just like my mom.

Huk-L, Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

If your mom actually said to you, "I don't want you calling that number; having kids kill a character is a grim mindfuck," then, um, yeah.

I forget if Wizard was around when this happened (I don't think it was), but I remember a VERY vocal anti-JT faction. Maybe it was in the letter pages?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 31 March 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, the letter pages were crazy. Nothing like the anti-Kyle Rayner movement, though.
I remember when John Stewart replaced Hal Jordan just before the Crisis...readership actually went up! And the letters pages seemed pretty positive too.

The weird thing about the JT thing was that Nightwing was crazy popular and getting way better play in New Teen Titans than he ever had as Robin in the Bat-Books, and he was habitually voted in the top 5 or 10 best characters alongside Punisher, Swamp Thing, Wolverine and Batman in whatever the big poll was back then. So it's not like people were pissed off about Dick Grayson not being Robin in the same way that they were about Hal Jordan not being Green Lantern.

And considering they totally revamped the character after Year One, the version of Jason Todd that died was only around for less than two years, and during that time there were plenty of Batman and Detective issues (back when Batman only had two titles a month--imagine it!) that didn't feature him at all.

Yeah, it was me.

Can you sue DC to get your money back now?

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 12 May 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

I don't know, his resurrection hasn't been fully explained yet. He still probably actually died.

Huk-L, Thursday, 12 May 2005 13:35 (twenty years ago)

Also, after Sodom & Gommorah, DC can keep my $.99.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 December 2005 19:10 (twenty years ago)

But Jason died before Superman and a recent Batman issue claims that THERE WAS NEVER A BODY IN JASON TODD'S COFFIN!!!
ergo, JT can't be part of the turnstile jumpers guild.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 15 December 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

B-b-b-b-but I need the money for holiday pwesents!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 15 December 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if I still have my trade of DitF where Denny O'Nile writes in his introduction about how cheap and filthy it would be to bring JT back, and how he'd hunt down whoever did and WAG THE GREEN ARROW FINGER at them.
(speaking of which, I think I've found the Original Finger in the Showcase Presents JLA, will scan and post somewhere later today)

So remember in Infinite Crisis, when Alex Luthor was looking for a perfect earth and then he looked OUT AT THE READER and was like, "OH THERE YOU ARE!" or something hokey like that?
How come Jason Todd hasn't broke the fourth wall (OR THE ONE PANEL) yet and J'ACCUSED the goldang readers what PAID EXTRA MONEY TO MAKE HIM DEADYBYE?
