Green Lantern's limits

The latest issue of Rebirth shows Hal creating a bigger ring with his ring to blast sinestro. My question is, if he can do that, can't he create a powerbattery with his ring to recharge it? This is sort of like a "wishing for more wishes" conundrum, but I wonder if a previous GL writer has tackled this issue. Can the GL ring really the greatest weapon in the universe and can indeed create anything, or is it just a fancy version of a Star Trek replicator?

What if Green Lantern was red/green colorblind and secretly calls himself Red Lantern?

I haven't read the new issue yet, so don't tell me anything more.
I think it's coming to be revealed (and it's certainly been hinted at for YEARS) that the green energy is something a little like the Force from Star Wars, that it's ALWAYS there, but the Guardians in their infinite (crisis) wisdom, conceived of the idea of using rings and power batteries as physical manifestations of the will power required to tap into the green energy, setting the GLs with purely psychological limitations so that they won't ever become too powerful.

You're thinking of the Shwartz.

The schwartz, rather.

Now I'm thinking of Schwepp's.

Hey, where's the love for my spot-on Batman-in-Identity Crisis imitation?

Does this mean you FINALLY dropped GL?

been reading it but I just don't get the appeal of Green Lantern.

all he does is point the ring at his enemies and that will either solve the problem or not.

and if it's two lanterns they just play one upmanship trying to imagine different things for their rings to create.

"I imagine an arrow"

"I imagine a shield"

"I imagine shield breaking arrows"

repeat.

why not just do a serial where just the rings fly around space.

ok so that last one was challops.

So now there's a White Lantern to beat the Black Lanterns? Birth of a DC Nation?

I would love it if all this (Rebirth/Sinestro Corps/Blackest Night) has just been build up for Hal Jordan's coming out party. I mean, come on, Hal, if you're going to be fearless, be fearless!

OH LORD.
A fan asked Johns why he chose the character of Black Hand as an antagonist in "Blackest Night." "If Sinestro’s the dark mirror of Hal Jordan, Black Hand is the exact opposite [of Jordan]," the author explained.

I almost went to the Seattle Comic Con, and I'm glad I didn't, because if I had, the next paragraph would have incorporated the words "bearded", "bitter", and "You're a fucking idiot!"
