I know good stuff's coming out, but I'm just not feeling it.

Though, if you're looking for a good chuckle, skate over to the PREVIEWS section of MileHighComics.com, & check out the first page of this month's installment of X-Men: The End. Roffle.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 11 April 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

No Seven Soldiers this week? Awww. Just Fables for me, then.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 11 April 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)

I remember Powers. Vaguely.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 11 April 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

I got Powers: The Sellouts from the library yesterday. I've only otherwise read vols 1 & 2, but I don't feel like their are any big gaps, and it's a funny story.

Big week for me, in terms of books that I'm still reading but not too sure I care about (except Gotham Central).

Huk-L, Monday, 11 April 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

I still like Powers, but I realized that it's immensely more enjoyable in trades rather than issues.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 11 April 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Just the Ultimates 2 #5 for me.

What's the deal with Stray Bullets. I'm really, really enjoying Lapham on Detective, but, um, hasn't Stray Bullets been going on for like 10 years or something? Is there a good place to start?

Huk-L, Tuesday, 12 April 2005 14:19 (twenty years ago)

At the beginning?

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 07:30 (twenty years ago)

ie the first hardcover (the paperbacks are shorter and much smaller page-size-wise. unfortunately there are also a lot more of them, so much of it hasn't been hardcovered yet... (and I've never seen a copy of #3 so I'm really like nine years behind...))

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 07:35 (twenty years ago)

Damn, I think it HAS been going on for 10 years. DL gets to it when he can (& I think he took a break to do another series - Murder Me Dead - a few years' back). You can jump in whenever, really - the stories are accentuated by knowing who's who, but I think they work just fine on their own. That's how I got into it! Here's info from Forbidden Planet. U&K words to look for: AMY RACECAR.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

Not U&K in terms of those write-ups, but U&K in terms of the series as a whole.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

So in ten years there have only been 37 issues? Or there are several volumes?

In holy freakin' christ news...my local comic shop has just announced they're opening a second location...four blocks from my apt!!! I might ask them for a job.

Huk-L, Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Nice!

No, it's just the one volume - I think the book was on a bi-monthly schedule at its best, & Lapham was self-publishing. And there was the Murder Me Dead thing. And he had a kid somewhere in there, too. Given all the work he's doing on the book, I don't blame him for not trying to stick to a monthly schedule. Look what it did to |)av3 $!m (and he had help, too)!

I've just realised that I'm glad that Cerebus ended before I had to read Dave Sim's summing up of Andrea Dworkin.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

oh man

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

dudes Dworkin was in Mothers & Daughters in about 1993

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 14 April 2005 03:51 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but I suspect some people didn't fully understand what he was doing there.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 14 April 2005 07:15 (twenty years ago)

I remember the Oprah was great...

SHHH! He might do a special issue or something and THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL MYSELF!

J (Jay), Thursday, 14 April 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

DUDE DWORKIN WAS IN MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS IN ABOUT 1993

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 14 April 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

The new Powers is an important turning point in the series, and a nice squalid end to a story all by itself, and I'm still going to cancel it if I remember, which I probably won't.
