????

That is the only conceivable explanation I can see for the existence of that miniseries.

Breaking into the kid's market?

That's the kind of publishing decision that made me start that Comix Economix thread last month. Don't they know there's a war economic meltdown on?

I've only seen Lockjaw in Shlott-Hulk, but that sounds like a great idea for a miniseries!

X-FACTOR #43
I've really cut down on my comix reading... mostly because most of them aren't that good. :/

Hey Doug, saw you across the hall at TCAF this weekend. It's great, eh?
Hit of the festival for me, which I highly recommend to everyone (especially Canadians): the brilliant Kate Beaton.
Otherwise, nothing for me this week, ho hum.

Umbrella Academy: Dallas #6 for me. And if LOEG decides to show its face on this side of the Atlantic, I'll be having the bugger!
― Stone Monkey, Friday, 15 May 2009 19:35 (fifteen years ago) link
LOEG, then? I didn't really enjoy it. Felt like a lot of fannying around from one place to the next without anything especially memorable happening -- like the references and easter eggs seem more important to Moore now than the characters or narrative. And I get the feeling Moore's sleepwalking through the writing a bit, too -- especially with Mina, it's very much the "here's my catchphrase and then I'm off again" school of characterization. Even the art seemed a bit rushed this time.

So just like Black Dossier, then?
― Mordy, Friday, 15 May 2009 20:03 (fifteen years ago) link
I thought Black Dossier was fine! This just seems like a lot of set-up -- not that there's anything wrong with set-up, but it's not especially interesting in this case. And the references (Jerry Cornelius, Iain Sinclair, new wave sci-fi) aren't things I find particularly exciting, which can't help. (Sinclair is pretty smackable, I've always thought -- he gets four pages here!)
