OH:
That LEE/KIRBY ASGARD thing looks cool. I'm probably a justifiably bad person for completely forgetting to pick up that first issue.

MAR094335 DARE GN $14.99
Given the Rian Hughes hardcover last year, I'm guessing this isn't the Morrison strip from Revolver?

For me:
BATMAN #687--I have a funny feeling about thisFINAL CRISIS HC--Might as well go the bookshelf routeSHOWCASE PRESENTS GREEN LANTERN VOL. 4--Apparently this is shorter than the earlier volumes, because it cuts off at #75, i.e. immediately before the Neal Adams run. HmmYOUNG LIARS TP VOL. 2: MAESTRO--I started liking this series too lateDETROIT METAL CITY VOL. 1--friends have been talking up this manga series enough that I want to give it a try
This is of course on top of all the stuff I got at MoCCA! Sigh.

ActionFlash: RebirthGLCUnwrittenUncannyX-FactorX-Men Forever
And so many trades! I would genuinely like to have Final Crisis in hardcover, but it's a little hard to justify buying it at the moment, since I own all of the singles. But also:Flash: The Human Race TPB (Morrison/Millar!)Superman: Last Son TPB (Late jumping on the SuperJohns train, and waiting for ev er for DC to put out something other than a hardcover of this stuff.)(Is X-Men: The End any good? I seriously almost bought up the three trades last weekend, only to see that there's a complete collection coming out this week. I'm kind of a nerd for Claremont X-stuff, whether said X-stuff is ultimately worth nerding out about or not (see X-Men Forever above).)...and perhaps most importantly of all: EXCALIBUR VISIONARIES: ALAN DAVIS V1 TPB!!!!!! (Seriously, the Alan Davis solo run on Excalibur is one of my favorite batches of comics ever. Between this and the Delano Hellblazer trades, I'm over the moon.)

BATMAN #687- I think this is going to be a big data dump issue with Bat Grayson meeting up with Supes and WW.BATMAN CONFIDENTIAL #30 - Eh...next storyline is by Peter Milligan, this one dealing with the Joker is pretty meh. I hope this guy is better at writing TV, as his Batman comic story hasn't been very good.RED ROBIN #1- I might check this one out on the shelf.AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #597- I get this one via subscription and just got 595. I tend to doubt the downfall of Osborn, the senior is going to happen in this storyline, but you never know about the son. I don't get why so many Spider-man fans hate the new start, as JMS run, especially after Romita Jr. quit being the artist was pretty lame (especially that f-in cruddy story about Gwen Stacy and the Green Goblin).

So X-Men Forever was predictably underwhelming. It read like a Marvel Age title or something. Boilerplate, rote, and by the numbers. And I read it in, like, 10 minutes! How on earth is this meant to be a direct continuation of Claremont's original run if it doesn't take me at least half an hour to wade through wall-to-wall dialogue and exposition? The biggest complaint, though, is that Claremont's just off his game, and it doesn't feel like he's really revisited that older material in some time. Heck, I feel like I could write a more "Claremont ca. 1992" comic than Claremont himself is able to at this point.
I considered starting a new thread for this, but I may be the only person who is at all interested in this particular venture, and I can see my own interest flagging very quickly.
