Okay, we all love MozWing & BatSon vs. Wind in the Willows, but what about the other books? Can any of them hold a candle to the only BatBook that matters?

If Snotboogie always stole the money, why'd you let him play? (Dr. Superman), Sunday, 14 June 2009 00:36 (fifteen years ago) link

who twitterized my poll?

Maybe Detective? Rucka might be able to make the new Batwoman an interesting character, rather than a lesbian media stunt. Having read the Batman and Red Robin from last week, I don't know that I'll be bothering again.

I could likely google my way to this, but can we get a breakdown of what's what and what creative team is on which book now?

Gotta be between the first two.

Batman: Judd Winick with Benes (this month), then Bagley for a few months, then who knows.

Red Robin: Christopher Yost/Ramon Bachs. Red Robin = Tim Drake, I think.

Streets of Gotham: Paul Dini/Dustin Nguyen. Basically just continuing what they were doing in Detective Comics, except with less Batman. Backup is Manhunter.

Detective Comics: Greg Rucka/J.H. Williams III. Batwoman; pages that have been released look GORGEOUS. Backup is the Question.

Gotham City Sirens: Paul Dini/Guillem March. Cheesecake.

Where is the "the only Batman comics I have ever purchased were written by Frank Miller" option?

sorry i poisoned u with nachos :( (HI DERE), Monday, 15 June 2009 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link

I can imagine myself perusing the Rucka/Williams III series for the same reason Douglas mentions.

Cully Hamner is going to be doing the artwork on The Question and I like his stuff. Greg Rucka's take on Montoya/Question has been pretty good, even though they had to ace Vic Sage to make it happen. It will be interesting to see if he follows up on the Global Peace organization and the Crime Bible from Final Crisis or if it has been completely farmed out to that one mini-series. (Anyone read that one?)

Streets of Gotham is... okay?
Gmoz Bats is... okay?
I think I need to ... stop buying these books?
Really really not feeling the "WHO SHALL WEAR THE MANTLE OF THE BAT" bullshit; in two years it's gonna be bruce wayne again so who gives a shit unless the concepts and writing are brilliant and they're not right now.

The "battle for the cowl" stuff was crap, I thought, but now that we're on the other side of it, the first issues of Batgrayson have been pretty good. Judd Winick's Batman 687 brushed up against some interesting takes on the characters' natures (but the dialogue was too melodramatic).

This was much closer than I expected.

I was expecting Detective to come out this week, but I must have been confused. Having looked at more of the art, am even more keen.

RE: THIS WEEK'S DETECTIVE (which is also my the title of the current album I'm working on, a hypothetical sequel to a certain Elvis Costello album (Rhino re-release, natch, with that demo of "Big Boys" that demolishes the later ARMED FORCES version). It's droppin' 'n' poppin' in the Spring of 2010, people - Look out!)

The J.H. Williams III show - golly! The rest is alright, too, kinda.

Haven't read Detective yet, but Gotham City Sirens is NOT GOOD.

one year passes...

Scott Snyder on Detective sounds very tempting. http://www.newsarama.com/comics/detective-comics-scott-synder-101006.html

Well, because whatever happened changed him. (Dr. Superman), Thursday, 7 October 2010 16:03 (fourteen years ago) link
