Yay! I sorted out an interview today with Came3ron St3wart, to take place some time in the next two weeks, in respect of this.
Any of yr questions desired/appreciated!

Oh, Cameron is great. He'll be a good interview, he's very talkative and interesting. Just maybe avoid questions about Darwyn Cooke, even though a few of them are funny and make Cooke sound like an unhinged maniac.

them = his anecdotes

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

I find it very hard to think of cool/fresh questions to ask comic book artists. With musicians it's much easier, maybe because I know so much more about the process and the life.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Well, ask him process questions anyway. I would recommend asking him about his taste in art and design too. Ask him about projects he wants to do on his own. Ask him about what he wants from comics, and what he doesn't like in comics - he's pretty opinionated about this stuff. Ask him when he's going to start coloring his own work full-time, since his most amazing art tends to be the stuff he colors himself.

Just read DC:TNF yesterday, what's with the Darwyn = maniac?

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Thursday, 28 April 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Well I don't remember every detail and either way don't feel totally comfortable relating the anecdote in public cos it was pretty much a private conversation, but it boils down to this: Cameron and Darwyn used to be tight, they had a falling out, and Darwyn is extremely intense and unforgiving in a comical sort of way.

Have the fun!

Nice guy. Still no chance of more Seaguy, though. :-(

(Apparently, Seaguy's not just low-selling but creator-owned, which means DC have even less interest in publishing a Part II, as they get less than diddly from it.)

Will post interview link on Thursday...

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Sunday, 28 August 2005 20:34 (twenty years ago)

I was sent a bunch of hi-res CS cover jpgs for the paper interview, which I sent (I hope) out to the old gmail list. If anyone else wants 'em, let me know.

nice interview chuckers!

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 6 February 2006 15:06 (twenty years ago)

It's ok/standard practice to use the same interview for articles in different places? I ask because I am curious!

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 6 February 2006 20:43 (twenty years ago)

It was fine with 9A as long as I added a bunch of extra stuff (the new one's about 900 words longer). Plus, I got to shoehorn back in all the comic geek-specific stuff I had to cut out of the first version. (The first version was for a Toronto newspaper, so I assumed they probably didn't give much of a hoot about Ed Brubaker or Brian Bolland).
(Plus, the 9A one didn't pay, I did it purely 'cause I'm a geek and I felt like it was karmic payback for all those free cbrs I download.)
