That IS a really interesting interview. Especially the $$$ stuff, for me.

Why aren't I reading Plastic Man? Are there any trades?

Not likely! Pony up for the back issues - it's totally worth it (especially after the first 6 or so)!

Cool!

Nice! I'm partial to the later issues, but that's not a bad collection at all.

Some of the best stuff about Plastic Man = the DC solicit blurbs attached to each issue. In essence, they go something like: "It's Plastic Man! It's wacky! It's not going to sell to the run-of-the-mill comic fan! We're not even gonna try! BUY IT!"

Thank you very much for that link - I really enjoyed it.

Interesting.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

This is the first time, to my knowledge, that a slave narrative's been done in comics form.

KB: Yeah, mine too.

Guess they've never heard about these guys, then:

More KB talk at the Pulse ( http://www.comicon.com/pulse/ )

”The book works a lot better since I got rid of the crime-fighting elements, and replaced a lot of the supporting cast with better characters,” continued Baker. “Now it’s about Plas and his weird family.”

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 22 August 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

Baker isn't sure yet what's next for Plastic Man. He told THE PULSE he only has three issues left in his contract with DC Comics and hasn't decided yet "if I'm quitting or not." He teased, "If I don’t quit, I have some funny villains in mind. A character called 'The Weeper', who makes superheros cry. All the heroes can do is cry and make speeches, they can’t fight or use their powers, they just mope about how hard it is to be a superhero. I want to do a story about Batman’s birthday surprise party, and I also have a story where Superman fights Plas. After this series is done, I will focus on my own characters. I prefer that to working on other people’s books. I am working on a Simpsons comic story, though, and another 'Escapist'."

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 22 August 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

The Weeper vs. The Heckler! Now that would be something!
