I've run across one or two. I hesitate to nominate them for best comic of the 00s, but there's no denying that there's some vital energy that makes most other comics seem tepid and lifeless by comparison. Which ones have you stumbled upon?

Can't say I have, except maybe Jeffrey Rowland. Who are some of the ones you're thinking about?

I'm not sure who they are, exactly:-ZS posted a link to a very strange website by some kid with some kind of compulsive disorder. -A very strange autobiographical Christian comic that is weirdly expressed as Sonic the Hedgehog/Transformers adventures.

This is pretty old, and not really a comic, but it's pretty insane:http://lsdex.ru/wp-content/uploads/HLIC/lh3.ggpht.com/_TMRGHY8FkN0/R-pH2dCL8TI/AAAAAAAAAz8/FUonW3NwpHo/PaulLaffoley+reconsctruction_of_universe.jpg(Paul Laffoley)

this is also old: http://lambiek.net/artists/c/clell_madison/clell_cuckoo.gif
could it be that there's a flattening of insanity in comics nowadays? where the people who would make fringe stuff are somehow discouraged from making them?
