Hurray, Vimanarama! Also for me: Ex Machina, Lucifer, Mnemovore, Klarion, maybe JLA Classified (who's doing it now?), and GLA.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 13 June 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

JLA:C is finishing up the Giffen / DeMatteis stuff - I think there are 2 issues left? - and then Warren Ellis & Butch "Jackson" Guice hop on board for 6 issues.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 June 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

Neat. Has Ellis done the JLA before?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 13 June 2005 13:04 (twenty years ago)

Away from TV stuff, I don't think so!

Holy crap. That's not much. Where the hell is the conclusion of the Spidey/Torchy mini? I'm probably the only one who's waiting for it, but it has more laughs than any other book (including ICBINTJL--which was actually sorta nearly serious last month).

Huk-L, Monday, 13 June 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)

(hi Huk I like me some Spidey Slott too!)

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 June 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

a/s/l?

Huk-L, Monday, 13 June 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

Not on the first date!

BTW, this is the post where I say READ ACTION COMICS!!! again.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 June 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

What's the deal with the circus midget in the Superman costume I've seen on the cover of Action? Is that the new Bibbo?

Huk-L, Monday, 13 June 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

The art's much better between the covers. Not coincidentally, Byrne's inked by someone else inside the book.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 13 June 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

i don't think i'm going to buy anything this week.

MAYBE Klarion. Seven soldiers is looking pretty dud.

If I WERE to buy three comics this week, what should they be?

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 13 June 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Word is that the Prelude to Infinite Crisis comes out this week. If you're interested in the big DC whiz-bang, it might help things.

Huk-L, Monday, 13 June 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

BAH. What little I've read of the Infinite Crisis stuff seems... blah. I'm more interested in HOUSE OF M for fuck's sake.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 13 June 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

But Worlds Will Live! Worlds Will Die!

P.S. Is Thanagar really blowed up?

Huk-L, Monday, 13 June 2005 15:28 (twenty years ago)

STREET ANGEL VOL 1 TP {{the one issue I read featured a Luke Cage / Dolomite parody, and featured a teenage girl wielding a katana against a horde of machine-gunnin' folk}} {{I think it was a katana.}} {{Anyway, SOLD!}}

The first two or three issues of Street Angel are better than that one. But there's one terrible issue that tries to be all serious and sentimental or something.

I'm also waiting for the last Spider-Man/Human Torch.

And does anyone know what the hell is going on with Queen & Country? The first issue of the new Declassified came out like 6 months ago, and there's been nothing since!

The Yellow Kid, Monday, 13 June 2005 23:19 (twenty years ago)

Prelude to a Crisis The good news is it's dirt cheap The bad news is it really failed to generate any excitement in me. Or maybe that's good news too. Anyway, the Flash/Wonder Woman aka Geoff Johns/Greg Rucka team-up is pretty nice, if only for the frank discussion the two have while Wally is towing Diana around the world by her magic lasso. Also for all the Task Force X stuff that I had no idea was going on, because I don't read Superman comics.

Justice League Classified #8: What's funnier than Blue Beetle's brain splattered all over Maxwell Lord's shiny floor?

Day of Vengeance #3: Hey look, two of the most powerful beings in the Universe are getting metaphysically physical on each other, seems like a good time for an interior monologue by Blue Devil.

Huk-L, Thursday, 16 June 2005 14:06 (twenty years ago)

I think I read that Queen & Country switched to monthly but with a break in between arcs. A really LONG break, possibly?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 16 June 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

I really like the fact that Vimanarama had no greater point/point-of-view but was 'just' a story about saving the world. It gives me hope that even after Grant Morrison runs out of interesting and exciting things to say about icons/intricate ways to structure stories, he'll still be able to knock out great comics.

In other news, Klarion manages the first official proper crossing of the streams in the Seven Soldiers books, while still being a fine story with a great central character.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 16 June 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Klarion was GR8. Still my favoruite of the 7S comics, so far. I'm enjoying GM's current jones for corny jokes (cf. Kit-Kats) Ebeneezer Badde, indeed.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Thursday, 16 June 2005 19:06 (twenty years ago)

i just got klarion and the new powers, which really kinda hit home that by modern standards A WHOLE FUCKING LOT HAPPENS in each issue of the seven soldiers stories

i also found the kit kat bit kinda moving although could see it coming.

tom west (thomp), Thursday, 16 June 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

okay "moving" is overstating it a bit but i like it.

what mr farrell sez above about vimanarama seems to apply to seven soldiers thus far - of course it gains some appeal next to crisis / house of m, in that it seems like seven lectures in how to actually do some vaguely FRESH take on things

tom west (thomp), Thursday, 16 June 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

HOLY CRAP!
Something nearly happened in Daredevil!

Huk-L, Wednesday, 22 June 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Oh go watch a reality show! :p
