Also, my family and I will be attending a wedding the weekend prior to it. Should I make last second arrangements??

Leeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

The wedding is in San Diego, as well.

Maybe you'll find gainful employment AT Comic Con?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

Synergy! That's why I let you post here.

Leeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

I thought it was because I look like Plastic Man.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:56 (twenty years ago)

I thought it was because of Affirmative Action.

Or some NAFTA thing.

Byrne wanted to post here, but you filled the Quanuck Quota[tm].

Pros for going:

1. Bring my streak of Comic Cons attended to 3.

2. Tell Tara McPherson in person how awesome her concert posters are. And get a sketch from her!

3. Stalk BKV and inform him of my crush on him.

4. Get Carla Speed McNeil to draw me a saucy sketch of Kate from Q&C.

5. Crossdress!

Leeeeeee (Leee), Saturday, 9 July 2005 05:43 (twenty years ago)

6. Get Mignola to sketch me a monkey.

Cons (haha GEDDIT?):

1. Expensive.

2. EXPENSIVE.

3. I'll miss the Kinski concert in SF.

If only I had known about that TW Jobs site a month ago, I might be the editor of DC's manga division. Most other positions I'm more or less underqualified for, but let's see if they'll bite on PUBLICITY COORDINATOR.

Fanx, Huk!

I love the wbjobs thing. I've applied for lots of jobs that I'll never, ever get, including Supervising Producer-Special Projects (or something) at HBO. Sooner or later, though, y'know? I mean, I'm not going to get a job I don't apply for.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 11 July 2005 19:43 (twenty years ago)

Report, Day One:

I'm tired. Woke up at 4.30 am to make a 6.30 flight, which ends up being rerouted to a different airport for an hour because of dense fog in SD.

First Con-thing I do is to sit in on Pia Guerra's panel. Notable things: Y is slated to end at #60, she's got an 11-page spread in a Spiderman Unlimited ish, she lived in a farmhouse (no farm!), and she found Uncanny X-Men more entertaining than General Hospital.

Then I realize I can't find anything, which makes me feel old. As far as I could tell -- no Marvel booth??! (I've heard that such a booth has been swallowed up by Activision.) Takes me forever just to find the Oni booth. I look all over for Tara McPherson, no dice and only once I've gotten this here interweb access do I find out where she's going to be.

I did get 3 sketches, one of which is CSM's saucy Kate. Oh wait, I got 4 sketches.

END TRANSMISSION.

The consistently jovial panel began with Greg Rucka's announcement of a forthcoming stand-alone issue of the critically acclaimed "Gotham Central" that will be illustrated by his "Whiteout" co-creator Steve Leiber. The second pairing of the two creators on the title, it will, believe it or not, tie in quite directly with "Infinite Crisis." "Four words," Rucka teased. "Shazam. In. Gotham. City."

HOLY MOLEY!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 15 July 2005 17:26 (twenty years ago)

Nah, that'd take five words, not the wizened old bloke in a cave. (BAT-CAVE?!?!??!)
