Um, stuff that folks love to hate! Matthew P's favorite JLA arc continues, everyone's favorite Alba-hater has a new issue of Action Comics, Chris Claremont pumps out another issue of X-Men: The End Days of Who Gives a Shit?, and don't forget about SATANS 3 RING CIRCUS OF H$$$!!!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 11 July 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

F&&& YEAH!

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 11 July 2005 12:40 (twenty years ago)

Green Arrow, Nightwing, and Jughead's Double Digest. Plenty of time to work on my Bat-Project.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Monday, 11 July 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

Not on that list, but expected to ship, All-Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder!

TheFourthRail.com on the new issue of Green Arrow:
Fowler's distorted depictions of the characters makes it difficult to take them serious. The Flash looks like Art Carney with a coat of red paint rather than a sleek, dynamic hero.

He says that like it's a bad thing!

Boy, Batman & Robin = snoooz.

Leeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

Who'da thunk it?
Oh, yeah, ME.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

ASBRTBW #1 Yawwwwwwwwwwwn. Why are they bringing back Vicky Vale? Nobody likes here. Not even Batman. And he likes everybody.

Batman #642 Are we still dealing with Hush fallout? Killer Croc is cool, though, so it's all right. He wants to eat the Mad Hatter.

Rann/Thanagar #3 I honestly have no idea what's going on. But it's kinda fun. Why are there two HawkLadies? Wait a minute, I don't think I want to know.

Green Arrow #52 I like Tom Fowler. He has sort of a goofy style, and the DCMB fanboys hate him, but I think he's fun. If Flash looks like Art Carney, does that make Zatanna (who also makes a guest appearance here) Tippi Hedren?

JLA #116 Look! It's Hawkman again! Didn't he just die? Get it together, DC.

Nightwing #11? It's beginning to look more and more like little Dicky Grayson is going to turn bad. So now Batman's going to have to fight TWO ex-Robin's.

SS: The Manhattan Guardian is on point though, and Fables is as great as usual! And I still have Albion, Walking Dead, Serenity, Mnemovore, Desolation Jones, and ZOMBIE KING to read!

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2005 03:36 (twenty years ago)

That's ZOMBIE KING with hott cow-fucking action, boys and girls.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 14 July 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

zombie cows?

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 July 2005 14:09 (twenty years ago)

Hey, I see that Sexy Voice and Robo is being released by Viz! That's pretty cool. I like the sketchy artstyle its creator uses on his series-- it's pleasingly different from conventional manga artstyles.

Chris F. (servoret), Friday, 15 July 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

O. My. God. FABLES. And that's all I'm going to say folks.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 15 July 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

I've read the first three Fables trades, and I really like it. I almost feel dirty for liking it, since it's so twee seeming, but really, it's not that twee at all. It's just got a twee premise.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 15 July 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

Exactly!

I thought it was a great-as-usual issue, Jocelyn, but I can't think of anything especially OMG that happened story-wise. Perhaps we should depart to that Fables w/spoilers thread that's around here somewhere.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 15 July 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

The full list is up now! Stuff I'm excited about:

MAY050039 GOON #13 $2.99
After this won a couple of Eisners, I'm curious to check it out. Any thoughts?

MAY050215 ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #642 $2.50
Part of the "Sacrifice" storyline that's starting to look verrrry interesting (and that the DC panel in San Diego mentioned was another leadin to Infinite Crisis).

MAY050221 BIRDS OF PREY #84 $2.50
Also really enjoying the current storyline.

MAY050275 EX MACHINA #13 (MR) $2.99
I'm getting pretty into this series.

MAY050246 PLASTIC MAN #17 $2.99
The series that nobody but me reads.

MAY051764 DAREDEVIL #75 $3.99
Hoping there will be an interesting payoff--is this the final Bendis issue? I forget, but I think so.

MAY051737 HOUSE OF M #4 (OF 8) $2.99
More Bendis--this mini is moving slowly, but I'm liking it.

MAY051818 THE PULSE VOL 2 SECRET WAR TP $11.99
Wait, so is the TPB actually coming BEFORE the final issue of the serialized version, or have I missed something?

MAY051751 ULTIMATES 2 #7 $2.99
God, I love this stuff.

MAY052749 LOVE & ROCKETS VOL 2 #14 (MR) $4.50
Actually I bought this one in San Diego. But it's good. Like that's a surprise.

MAY052757 TALES DESIGNED TO THRIZZLE #1 (MR) $4.50
Also bought this one in SD--Michael Kupperman's first solo saddle-stitched comic, and unbelievably funny.

Douglas (Douglas), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 03:01 (twenty years ago)

I think Bendis has one more arc on Daredevil.

Occam, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 03:06 (twenty years ago)

THE GOON varies from "pretty good" to "woah, mama!" Though I'm not so much a fan of the pencil+paint route the art's been going. I'm much bigger on his solid inkworks. Bring your taste for the absurd and you'll go home happy.

I read PLASTIC MAN, too...

Matt Maxwell (Matt M.), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 03:30 (twenty years ago)

I wish #75 was the last Bendis issue.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

(who's jaded now?)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 04:32 (twenty years ago)

Hey Matt, did you pick up the Hellboy: Island #2 at CC? It's really good.

Leeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 05:03 (twenty years ago)

I think this week the entire board should pick up Plastic Man as some sort of silent and pointless protest. (And also 'cause it's good.)

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

I'm reading it in trades!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

I.e., very slowly!

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

what are we protesting?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

"Sacrifice" has been the most interesting IC-related thing so far, for all that the entire plot would have fitted on one Silver Age cover!

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 21:36 (twenty years ago)

Oh Tom no.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 21:42 (twenty years ago)

MAY050246 PLASTIC MAN #17 $2.99
The series that nobody but me reads.

I read that too!! Even more, I PAY for it!

I have no idea of what that "Sacrifice" storyline is about, but the Superman issues I'm reading, being eleventh chapter of "For Tomorrow", first chapter of the X-over with Captain Marvel, and a Mxyzptlk (did I write it wrong?) adventure in Rucka's series, are all quite boring stuff.

Well, Rucka's mag not that bad. It's hard to go wrong with that psychedelic imp.
