So the Vault-Keeper, the Old Witch, and the Crypt Keeper aren't all the same person then? HORROR OF HORRORS, indeed.

I read a bunch of these when they reissued them when I was a kid, which was a pretty smart move, considering how kids are always fascinated by gore and horror.

Pretty smart move on your part? For reading them when you were a kid?

If no one on ILC has anything to say about EC Comics, than I have no use for you.

(I've never read any EC Comics apart from excerpts in books about comics.)

(I've never read any EC Comics apart from excerpts in books about comics.)

They're really good, not just the HORRORE ones but the crime and WARRE ones too. Part of the fun with them is their blatant left-wing biases, making it not unsurprising that THE MAN decided to shut them down.

The Real Dirty Vicar, Sunday, 1 April 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

Nice A.V Club interview with E.C.'s Al Feldstein

nine years pass...

great piece: http://www.tcj.com/the-horror-the-horror-graham-ingels-and-the-art-of-real-yuch/

I've always been curious about what exact cover Bill Gaines was defending with his infamous quote about holding the decapitated head at a different angle, anyone know which one that was?

six years pass...

In 1953 EC comics published a story called 'Judgement Day' with a black astronaut. Prejudice had been eliminated in that future.
America lost its damn mind.
