well, I'm sure that anyone's gonna answer "c," but does anyone have Moore's run on MM, like a trade or something? and was Fighting American ever collected? I'm told this was a very kewl, ahead of its time series…

The 3rd and 4th trades of Moore's run on MM - where it gets really really good - will set you back an absolute fortune on eBay and don't look like being republished anytime soon due to ongoing legal crap involving Todd McFarlane and about a million other people with claims on the rights.

Best bet is to try to pick up individual back issues, which aren't too expensive and are definitely worth it.

But it should also be said that MM must be one of the easiest things to find available to download. I mean, it wasn't hard to get even before cbr sharing became popular.

There used to be a website that had the whole Eclipse series up for download. Does that still exist?

My memories of Fighting American are very shaky, but 50's Kirby art in general is very classic. For one thing, he drew a lot of really great-looking monsters for various things before he even started working on those Marvel giant monster books.

Oh hey, and it looks like Marvel released a trade of the whole Fighting American series about 15 years ago. Also, I seem to recall it being reprinted in pamphlet form by a smaller company at some point.

See what I mean about the monsters?

ugh my eyes!

Okay and but at the risk of sounding like a broken record you can pretty easily find the famous MM run in a torrent or on DC++.

And it's classic! the last few issues are horrifying; and not just the killing of london. I know the world is sort've utopian at the end, but the idea of God actually existing is chilling. The mountainous palace was a perfect way of demonstrating the difference in scale between MM's abilities and humanity's.

oh wait I forgot about how he couldn't make that sick person better! That's, like, one of the most important parts, oops.

Yeah, dig the whole message about how futile human ambition is and how far removed we always will be from the divine or perfected. MM's version of paradise on Earth = keeping his pets happy. "Sheep safely graze" and all that.
