I'm happy to say that I know Nuke and his flag face but have no clue about any of these particular comics.

Voting for Jerry Mathers.

"Punny must save his little buddy!"

This is pretty funny.

It took me actually typing it out to understand the wordplay wrt that Dr.Who blurb, at first I thought it was just "uuuh we dunno what to do with this yet, just say something about trouble".

I am very fond of the Morbius and Shield bits as well.

Nuke was a great character

your petty attempt at destroying me is laughable (Shakey Mo Collier), Sunday, 8 July 2012 01:28 (twelve years ago) link

that Miller/Mazzuchelli run on Daredevil was probably the last time Miller was worth paying attention to

anyway gotta go with "The alternate Vision continues his Vision-quest!"

that Miller/Mazzuchelli run on Daredevil was probably the last time Miller was worth paying attention to

even if you don't like Elektra Assassin, excluding Year One is madness; Mazzuchelli is already miles ahead of Born Again on that one

huh must have my chronology wrong, thought both of those were before Born Again...?

the alternate vision continues his vision quest! (Shakey Mo Collier), Sunday, 8 July 2012 13:59 (twelve years ago) link

batman year one is the last mainstream comic series that mazzuchelli ever drew - so yeah, yr chronology is wrong

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 8 July 2012 14:28 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah, just re-read YEAR ONE and it's nearly perfect Batman comics. But then I think that Batman works better doing crime and not being Iron Man minus the iron suit (though I enjoy the GMoz Bat-books just fine.)

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Monday, 9 July 2012 16:06 (twelve years ago) link

I'm reading the Bullpen Bulettins now. Do they even still do those? Amazing how this 90's column still reads like Silver Age Stan Lee "Mad"-influenced loveable hucksterism, bad as the books that it's pimping may be. I like how they mention that one artist has a fine arts exhibition going on "including a haunting self-portrait", and comment on Harras saying the X-Men cartoons are popular because "they mean something" with "and those checks mean something, too!"
